hello lovely people, I hope all is well. Today’s post will have my thoughts on the Hot Head Thermal Cap I purchased back in Feb.
This year is all about healthier hair and hair routines/habits for me. As part of my healthy hair journey, I decided to deep condition with heat every wash day. Even though I have a blow dryer hood attachment, I wasn’t using it as much as I should because it was inconvenient- I had to be stationary for 30+ mins & the noise of the blow dryer meant I couldn’t concentrate on anything I was doing. My friend Yasmin told me about the Hot Head cap and even though I knew of them they never really crossed my mind.
I got my thermal cap from Kiyo Beauty . Its a microwavable heat cap that can be used for deep conditioning
Experience
Its a fairly easy cap to use. This is my first time with a heat cap like this. You simply microwave for 45 secs 3 times, flipping it inside out after every round. It fits well on my head. I got Jeweled design.
Pros
- Easy to use
- Allows for movement whilst deep conditioning
- Adds heat for deep conditioning allowing the conditioner to penetrate deeper for healthier hair
- easy to clean
- kids & adult sizes available
- Cap can be reheated up to 2 or 3 times in one conditioning session
- heat is well distributed across the whole head
- lots of styles/colors available
Cons
- Doesn’t stay hot for too long. I’ve noticed the heat lasts about 15-20 mins before I have to reheat again as I like to deep condition for 40 mins
- You cant place the cap on your wet hair, you have to wear a thin shower cap underneath. This doesn’t bother me at all but it may be a con to others
- The scent of the conditioner tends to linger in the cap for a while- again not bothered by this
- the adult cap size for my head, hair thickness & length is fine however if you have thicker, longer hair or a bigger head I’m not sure if it will fit. I think there are extra large sizes available but I’m not too sure
As you can see, the main & only con for me is that I have to reheat the cap because the heat only lasts 15-20 mins, I don’t really mind this too much because I’m able to reheat again and it only takes about 3 mins to do so. I have noticed a huge difference in my hair so far, compared to just deep conditioning without heat. My hair feels softer. You can read on my hair progress in my 3 months check in here
Overall
I LOVE this cap and I’m so glad Yasmin reminded me of it. Its made deep conditioning a breeze! The cap feels like a warm hug every time I put it on looool. Highly recommended.
