Hi all
I hope all is well. I wanted to share the new products I have bought over the last 2 months as part of my healthy hair and skincare journey this year.
Haircare
Healthier hair is one of my big focuses this year! I’ve previously shared my hair journey here and the mistakes I made here. I have 4b/4c hair with low to medium porosity, my hair is extremely dry so all everything I bought was tailored to this. I did a lot of research on the ingredients and textures I should be looking for. One of the items I have also invested in is the Science of Black hair book. this is the only book I know that deals with black hair in detail and the science behind it. Im so excited to read and gain knowledge from this book.
Treatment masks– my main goal is to have a good balance between moisture and strength. I wanted 2 moisture only protein free deep conditioners and 2 moisture/strength treatments. The strengthening ingredients had to be smaller protein molecules e.g amino acids

Shea Moisture Manuka Honey Treatment– this one is one of the popular hair masks for dry thirsty hair which I have. I got it because it has honey in it, which is a very good humectatnt and excellent for my hair type
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask – another popular masks for naturals and has amazing reviews. I got this because I wanted a good treatment mask with a balance of strengthening and moisture ingredients. This came in a set with a leave in conditioner & shampoo
Keracare Intensive Restorative Treatment– this is another moisture and strengthening mask. I’ve come to really like Keracare and wanted to try more of their products. This is my 2nd moisture/strength treatment and I will be alternating between this and the Briogeo
Aphogee 2 min Keratin Reconstructor – I also wanted to get a standalone protein treatment that I can use sparingly to strengthen my hair. I don’t need a lot of protein for my low porosity hair but I wanted to ensure I had a mild treatment to strengthen it once every 3-6 months or so. I got this instead of the hardcore 2 step protein treatment.
Leave Ins/Serums

I found out I have fine hair + low porosity and the best textures for this are lighter, watery thinner textures. I gave away the thicker leave ins I had so got the Camille Rose Moisture milk which comes highly recommended.
The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Moisture + Damage Defense Leave-In Treatment also came in the gift set with the treatment mask. I haven’t seen a lot of reviews on this but since Briogeo is well loved, I’m hoping for good results from this
Rose water– I decided to get this to use in my spray bottles in addition to aloe & glycerin as part of my LCO routine
The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum for Hair Density I started using this in Jan for my thinning edges and so far there is some promise. I’m planning on using at least 2 bottles before I bring my full review
Shampoo
Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Super Moisture Shampoo– I haven’t used this but it also came as part of the Briogeo gift set
Shea Moisture Manuka honey & Yoghurt shampoo– I got this on sale for £1.84 from Boots! Whilst I wasn’t on the hunt for a shampoo I got this because my hair needs all the moisture it can get and also a friend gifted me the conditioner so I can now pair it with its shampoo

Tresemme Replenish & Cleanse– from my research I learnt the importance of clarifying hair often but I also learnt about chelating shampoos which removes mineral build up that clarifying shampoos don’t remove. In addition to not taking care of my hair properly, I also moved to an area with very hard water 2 years ago and I believe this may have contributed to my dry hair. I checked the area I was previously and it had medium water and even though my ‘lazy hair phase’ started way before I moved, my hair never felt that dry and damaged back then. Anyways I went with this tresemme shampoo because its good for both clarifying and chelating and comes recommended. Clarifying my hair is something I only started last year as part of my Olapex routine but I wanted something I can use more frequently as part of my usual hair routine
I have created an extenstive hair routine for myself and I will share this with you as I put it into practice
Hair tools
Thermal hair care hot head heating cap-one of the last things I was looking into was the addition of heat to my deep conditioning treatments. With my low porosity hair I need heat to ensure my cuticles open to allow penetration of the conditioner. I wanted a steamer but these are too big and I don’t have the space. I have the hooded blow dryer attachment but I don’t use it as much because it means I have to be still for 30-45 mins so its not that convenient. My friend told me about this brand and even though I knew about them, they never really came to mind. After doing more research I decided to get one and I will bring you the full review!
Foiled lined conditioner cap- for a quicker and easier deep conditioning session I also got this foil lined cap from Shein. The foil will trap body heat and hopefully help the treatment penetrate deeper into the hair
Skincare
My skincare routine is pretty good but I wanted to focus more on my eye area which is one of my problematic areas. As I’m getting older I am becoming more interested in Collagen and I spent a lot of time reading research published on this. I decided to get this Peter Thomas Roth Collagen Eye patch and Im also looking into better eye creams. I only took eye creams seriously at the end of 2022 so I have a long way to go
Marine Collagen- my gal Yasmin ( hey girl hey) put me on this. So I have known about collagen supplements since they first came on but I never took them seriously until Yasmin told me she’s been taking them. Yasmin makes good decisions so I automatically trust anything she says. I started to read a lot more about them and looked for clinical studies that proved its efficacy. The research is very convincing so I decided to get Marine collagen for beauty benefits. I can do a follow up post on this. In addition to skin benefits, it also helps with hair, nails, joints. I was lucky to get it in the buy 1 get 1 free Holland & Barrett sale.
Im hoping to bring reviews for all the products I have purchased. Im not planning to get any new stuff for a while unless I run out of something I don’t have a back up for. My aim for this haul was to find the best ingredients for the issues I have so Im hoping to really good results.
catch you laterrr
