Pixi, I was first introduced to the brand via their iconic Glow Tonic and since then I have been interested in their skincare collection and tried a few things. I haven’t bothered with the makeup/complexion products because to be totally honest there are no shades for dark skin.
The skincare range is what they are mostly known for and I have tried a few things from it. In this brand review, I will share my thoughts on all the products I have tried from Pixi and how to use them in a routine.
Toners ‘tonics’
I have tried the Glow Tonic and I really love it. Its 5% AHA, refreshing and gentle on the skin. My full review can be read here. The Rose tonic is quite different from Glow tonic but stands well on its own. It’s hydrating, soothing and gentle and formulated without acids. I really like this one too. My full review can be read here
Routine step- after cleansing. Glow Tonic- PM, Rose Tonic- AM or PM
Mists
Pixi has a lot of mists and I have tried 3 of them and I love all of them. Glow Mist is my favourite dewy/luminous setting spray. This adds such a beautiful luminous finish to make up with just 1 mist. I also like the Rose Mist but I find I have to layer it to get the luminosity I like. It is still a beautiful mist and makes your skin glow and look healthier. The Vitamin wakeup mist is more of a skincare mist and I used this in the mornings after toner to ‘wake’ up my skin. It smells so fresh and leaves your skin looking less tired. Full review here
Routine step- Glow Mist & Rose Glow Mist- as a makeup setting spray. Vitamin Wakeup Mist- after toning or throughout the day to refresh the skin.
Masks
They have a good range of masks but I have only tried two. The Peel & Polish Mask is an acid based mask with enzymes that gently exfoliate the skin. It is very gritty and feels like a scrub. I love this mask! It leaves my skin so smooth and healthy looking. From 1st use, I have been so impressed by it and it’s definitely worth the hype. I will have a more in-depth review soon. The Rose Balm is a 3 in 1 multitasking product that can be used as a primer, moisturiser and mask. I got it to only use it as a mask. It is a gentle soothing mask and leaves the skin feeling moisturised and soothed. Good nice to reach for in the winter. It is also great when mixed with The Ordinary Vitamin C powder, it leaves the skin glowing and hydrated. This is something I will repurchase. It’s perfect for following up after a ‘chemical peel’ at home or a ‘hardcore’ mask think Glamglow Youthmud. Because it feels very gentle and soothing, I would recommend if you feel your skin is irritated and you don’t want to aggravate it any further.
Routine step- 2- 3 times a week
Cleanser
I have only tried one cleanser from Pixi and it is their Glow Mud Cream Cleanser. This is an acid based cleanser with 5% AHA and they say you can use it both AM & PM. I only use mine in the PM because I want to keep acids for evening use. I really like this cleanser. It is a non-foaming cleanser and it feels very gentle on the skin. I have a full review here.
Routine step- as a PM cleanser
That’s all folks! the skincare collection from Pixi has a lot of products but these are the only I have tried from them so far, there are a few more products I would really like to try which are the Retinol Tonic, Milky setting spray and Oxygen mask. I have stayed away from their makeup collection simply because their complexion products do not run dark enough.
UPDATE- Pixi released a bunch of new collections and I picked up the Vitamin C kit which features the new Vitamin C tOnic, Vitamin C Lotion and Vitamin C Caviar Balm. I also got the Milky Tonic from the new Milky Tonic collection so watch out for reviews.
RANT- I purchased these from the PIXI UK website in addition to the Multi Masking Medley kit. My shipping email said everything was dispatched only to get my parcel and the multi masking kit wasn’t in it! I emailed the customer service and sent a DM on Instagram. I even left comments on Instagram but I didn’t hear anything back! I tweeted them only to get a response asking me to send an email to customer service which I had already done. On Monday I sent them emails again and DM’ed again with no response. I found a number and called them only for them to say there was an admin error and the Multi masking medley is out of stock and they won’t be getting it again! Then she said there should have been an email sent to me and I should have been refunded! I said I haven’t got any emails PLUS all my messages/emails have been ignored! She processed my refund and I will make sure I keep an eye on my account! What’s frustrating is that I still haven’t had any replies to any of my emails/messages so if I didn’t call them I don’t know when I would have heard from them! PLUS the shipping on the website is hella expensive. I spent £35 so I got free shipping but its £4.99 if it’s under £35 which is a lot! Basically, I don’t think I will be ordering from the Pixi website and stick to getting it from Cult Beauty, this is my 1st and last time. PLUS bring more inclusive shades to your makeup range! These products better be worth it!
