HAPPY NEW YEAR!
To start 2019 off in style, I will be doing a 2 month Beauty Pie skincare challenge! I have been eyeing Beauty Pie for a while now and the Black Friday sale was what finally got me on board (offered 1st month free plus £50 extra bonus). I decided to do a 2-month skincare challenge in the New Year so here we are!
Beauty Pie is basically a beauty club, you pay for access to some of the world’s best labs which in turn gives you the products at member’s price instead of the full ‘retail’ price. You also get a monthly allowance which limits how much you can spend. When shopping, the full retail price is deducted from your monthly allowance but you pay the member’s price plus shipping. I decided to get the £20 monthly membership which gives me a monthly allowance of £200. I chose this membership to allow me to get all the products in time for January to start the challenge! Let’s get into the challenge!
Beauty Pie 2-month challenge!
From Jan 1 to 28th Feb, 95% of my AM & PM routine will be Beauty pie skincare products. 95% because there are some products Beauty pie don’t have, for instance, they don’t have a toner. The only hydrating masks they have are sheet masks and I don’t want to pay the price they have for it. I am also not getting any eye creams from them because I have a lot I need to use up. For my AM toners, I will be using hydrating toners and acid toners in the evening. If I happen to run out of a Beauty Pie product, I will review it and try another similar product (where available) so I can use as many of their products as possible. By the end of February, I will have reviews of every product I have used and a brand review to summarise it all!
Here are the initial products I will be beginning with:
Morning routine
Cleanser– Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser
Toner– Simple Soothing toner then afterwards any hydrating toner
Essence– Japanfusion Hydra Prep Lotion (the only essence they have so depending on how much I like it, I will either repurchase or switch to a face mist) I just need to finish my B. Essence Lotion first, I have about 3 days’ worth to use
Serum– Triple Hyaluronic Ha & Peptide Serum
Morning Cream– Super Healthy Skin™ Daily Moisture Lotion
SPF– Super Healthy Skin™ Ultralight UVA/UVB SPF25 (Only SPF they have. I usually use SPF 30 and above but since its winter, the SPF 25 should be ok. I will also be using my Ferulic Acid plus Resveratrol from The Ordinary which provides antioxidant support) I also need to finish my Glossier SPF 30 sunscreen. I think I have about a week’s worth left.
Evening routine
Makeup remover– Nip Fab Cleansing cream/ makeup wipes
Cleanser– Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser as a second cleanser when I have makeup on or as the first cleanser when there is no makeup.
Toner– Nip Fab Extreme Pads then afterwards any acid toner – I may switch to a hydrating toner depending on how well the retinol combines with my acid toner. I have done this combination before and my skin takes well to it, but since this is a new formula of retinol I am trying, I will have to play around with the combination.
Essence– Japanfusion™ Hydra Prep Lotion
Serum– Super Retinol Ceramide-Boost Anti-Aging Face Serum & Triple Hyaluronic Ha & Peptide Serum (as I feel like it but it will mostly be the retinol serum)
Night Cream – Super Retinol (+ Vitamin C) Night Renewal Moisturizer
Oil– Beuti Beauty Elixir (review pending) as and when I feel like it
I choose 2 months because with any new skincare routine or new products you really need 6- 8 weeks to see any improvements or long-term benefits. This time period allows me to really test the claims of each product so I can form a full and honest opinion. Everything was purchased with my money.
I’m really looking forward to this challenge! I will be doing updates on Instagram so make sure you follow me! My skin is pretty tough so I hope I don’t experience any irritation with these products. I am still a member of Beautypie, I am hoping the challenge will allow me to fall in love with some of their products so I can stockpile them before I cancel my membership. I really wanted to get the Apricot Cleansing Balm but it was sold out and they said it may be another 6 weeks before it comes back in stock! I will get it as soon as it comes back as it is one of their best selling products. I’m not sure if I will venture into their makeup collection yet but if I really love their skincare I may just give them a try!
Let’s start 2019 with great skincare! Wishing you all the best for this New Year!
