I can’t complete any makeup look without adding a pop of colour on my cheeks! I love to match my blush to either my lip or eye colour or just a neutral /warm flush of colour when I can’t be bothered lol. A lot of my dark skinned sisters feel otherwise and feel like blushes don’t look particular good on melanin skin! This is completely the opposite! If you pick the right shade and texture the blush will compliment any skin tone and makeup look!
In this edit, I have picked my favourite blushes! These look amazing on dark skin and are pigmented enough to show up on any skintone! I have been a victim of over blushing and it’s not cute lol but in return I learnt the importance of good lighting when doing makeup! Most of these blushes are matte, I try to stay away from shimmery blushes because I also use highlighters but most of the time if I go for a shimmery blush I use less highlighter or no highlighter at all.
This dark plum shade looks amazing on dark skin. I pair this with nude/ neutral lips but I have even used this with a red lip and it looked good! The blush is very pigmented so gently dip into it and tap away excess
Juvia’s Place Saharan Blush Palette Vol 1, £20
Is this the world’s most pigmented blush? This blush palette has me shook! It’s extremely pigmented, so I am very careful with the application! It’s such a beautiful palette that looks amazing on dark skin. As a bonus, you get 2 highlighters and the shades can also be used as eyeshadows
Sleek Blush by 3 in Sugar, £13.49
Easily my favourite drugstore blush, the demera shade in this palette is the perfect example of a cheek colour that pairs well with any look. It’s pigmented and blends easily on the skin. Sugar also features a shimmer shade which looks great as an eyeshadow. Blush by 3 comes in a lot of other shade ways. Worth having a look – swatches of them below too!
Elf Cosmetics Blush in Brick Red, £3
Super cheap blush for £3 but looks great on?! This Brick red blush from ElF is exactly that. It’s not necessarily red but it adds a warm glow to the skin. It does have some shimmer but this does not translate a lot on the skin. I love how pigmented this is and did I mention only £3?! Plus other good picks!
Anastasia Beverley Hills Blush Quad in Gradient, £31
It’s pricey but you are getting 4 blushes! Featuring all matte shades and warm shades this quad is one of my fav blushes! I love the brown shades in this quad and they add a warm flush to the cheeks! Trust me it shows on the skin. There’s a greyish shade in there but looks nice as a natural contour and the deep purple shade will look amazing on deeper skin tones!
I can’t do a blush edit for dark skin and not include my favourite two blushes from MAC Cosmetics: Sweet as Cocoa is a shimmer blush and the only shimmer blush I actually love. Adds a gorgeous bronzy colour to the skin. And of course Raizin– a matte blush I think every dark skin beauty should own!
