Things to do in London this Christmas: Christmas Lights 2018

Christmas Lights events last year was amazing and I really enjoyed the illuminations and walks around. I have been looking forward to it this year and I have made it my mission to get more people to go out (hence this post!) I have been to a few of these so I can share my experience and hopefully that encourages you to go to at least one!

Most of these events are walks in the dark on an illuminated trail. Wrap up warm and head out!

After Dark, Chiswick House & Gardens, from £15.40

Dates – 15th Nov to 30th Dec, Thurs-Sunday

This is a brand new event for 2018 at the historic Chiswick House & Gardens. A walk through the site in the dark with light installation across the trail. There will be light, food and drinks!

Christmas at ZSL London Zoo, from £16.50

Dates – 22nd Nov to 1st Jan 2019, Thurs- Friday

I went to London Zoo for the first time this year and saw a poster of this and I knew I had to go to it! a walk in the zoo after dark with lights everywhere! Sounds like a fairy tale! P.S there will be no animals.

Christmas at Kew Gardens from £16.50

Dates – 22nd Nov – 5th Jan 2019, Monday to Friday

I went to this last year and I really enjoyed it! it’s a 30-40 min walk depending on how fast you walk and the last light show at the end is spectacular Its worth the money and I am looking forward to it this year!

Winterville, Clapham Common from free, entry charges from £2

Dates- 15th Nov to 23 Dec, Tues- Sunday

I missed this event last year thanks to Yas lol but this year I am determined to go! It almost like Winter Wonderland but with more attractions (a cinema!) and food provided by Street Feast (btw if you haven’t been to a Street Feast yet WHY NOT)

Winter Wonderland, free

Dates- 22nd Nov to 6th Jan 2017, every day except Christmas day

Ok so I can’t talk about Christmas events without a word on Winter Wonderland, the famous event is back for 2018 and some new attractions, if you don’t go to any of the events listed above, winter wonderland is a must, with free entry and lots of food and attractions it will be a shame to miss this event.

Canary Wharf Winter Light 2019, free

Dates- 15th Jan to 26 Jan 2019

This one is in the New Year so you have plenty of time to plan for it. I went to it last year and it as a very pleasant walk around Canary Wharf with the lighted installations spread out plus I think you get free parking ( don’t quote me) another free event so make sure you go!

There are also lots of Christmas light displays in Oxford Street, Covent Garden and around central London. You will notice most of the events are around the same dates so plan ahead and you could probably do one each weekend!
