Maybelline Super Stay 24 Makeup Setting Spray Review

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Makeup Setting Spray Review

I hope I have sold you guys on Makeup Setting Sprays by now lol and if I haven’t I won’t stop till I do lol. For the 2nd instalment in the Drugstore Makeup Setting Sprays Challenge, I am reviewing the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Makeup Locking Setting Spray.

This setting spray promises to extend makeup wear and keep it looking fresh. It’s an oil free and translucent mist that locks makeup and helps to prevent makeup dulling or colour fading.

Experience

I haven’t enjoyed using this setting spray at all. It does exactly what it says it will do but it leaves the skin slightly dry and very matte. It doesn’t say which skin type it’s for so I guess it’s suitable for all skin types. Although I haven’t tested its 24 hour claims, I do notice it helps to extend your makeup and locks it into place. My only issue with the spray is that it’s too mattifying for me, although it doesn’t say it leaves your skin matte. I was worried about this product because I did read reviews saying it left tiny white spots on your face but for me, I didn’t experience that ( thank God!) I shook it really hard though. I am not a huge fan of the scent either, it smells vaguely of chemicals

Verdict

I think Maybelline should really put what skin type this is for. I won’t recommend this for dry skin or normal to combo skin types with less oil production. I think for oily to extremely oily skin types, this setting spray could probably work for you. It is oil-free so it doesn’t leave any sort of dewy/glow finish. I found the finish too dry and mattifying for me so I was only able to bring myself to using it 3 times before I gave up.

I would probably use it again in the summer or on sunny vacays. I won’t be reaching for this setting spray for a while now.

If you are going to get this, please do shake it extremely hard before use.

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Makeup Setting Spray is £6.99 and available in Boots.
