Drugstore Makeup Primers

Makeup primers are an important step in your makeup routine. It’s important for helping your makeup last longer, target skin concerns and more importantly creating a barrier between your skin and your makeup hence less irritation from makeup products.

We all know about the Becca Ever Mattes, the Mac Prep and Primes and the Benefit Porefessionals but what happens if your budget doesn’t stretch that far? I mean those primers are great but do we really want to use our high-end makeup every single day? ( I like to save mine for special occasions) Here’s where I come in! I was browsing through Superdrug a few days ago trying to pick out a primer for a friend but I realised I hadn’t even used that many from the drugstore (and I feel a certain way about recommending products I haven’t used!). So, I decided to start a review series on drugstore makeup primers that can help everyone pick out the best primers from the drugstore!

Criteria

I chose these primers based on

Price- under £10

Accessibility- popular drugstore brands and easily available

Testing criteria

I will be testing each primer against its claims, and trust me some of these primer claim to do a lot!

Side effects

Longevity

Feel/texture

How it’s going to work

I will wear each primer everyday for a week before reporting back my results!

The Line Up!

The primers in this drugstore challenge are

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser- £7.99

L’Oréal Infallible Mattifying Primer- £7.99

MUA Pro Base Moisturising Primer- £4

Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer – £5

Barry M Original Primer- £5.99

Rimmel London Lasting Finish 8 Hour wear primer- £6.99

All these primers are available from Superdrug and Boots or online from many sites. Note that the MUA and Makeup Revolution brand is exclusive to Superdrug but it’s also available on their websites too.

Make sure to follow me on Instagram (sarahfynn) to know which primers I will be testing out! This should be a fun challenge and hopefully, it can help you know which primers to get or ditch from the drugstore!

See you in a week with the first review in this series! Head to my Instagram to find out which primer is up first!
