Natural Hair at NYFW

Natural Hair at NYFW?

Natural Hair, its a movement, trend, lifestyle or whatever you want to call it. Even though a lot of black everyday women and celebrities are embracing their natural hair, it’s still a tad bit difficult to break into the mainstream. So how about the biggest event in fashion? NYFW? Will we see natural hair on the runway?

Last year, for the first time ever, Maria Borges brought her sexy TWA to the Victoria Secret Runway (and this the 1st time in 2015!) and made headlines around the world!

This year an army of natural haired beauties are getting in #formation and ripping the runways at NYFW! This is great news, long overdue but a step in the right direction. I find it quite surprising in 2016 that we still have to shout and scream over diversity in fashion and makeup. I don’t want companies or designers to pick models just because they are black (personally, I think a LOT of companies are guilty of this, anytime there is an ad for a campaign which features a black model or anyone of colour they always have 2 or 3 secs *side eye* cough Maybelline, L’Oréal etc, but that’s a whole other post. Check out this Buzzfeed article on Maybelline’s Dream Velvet Foundation did you guys also see the horrible comments on the MAC Instagram page when they posted a picture of a black model’s full lips? Read that article here ). Pick models because they are right for the job unless all these companies and designers think only white models are right for the job?

Anyway, I digress

Here are the beauties killing it at NYFW, if you know any of their names, please drop it in the comment section and I will update the post, pictures have designer names! xx
