I’m sure everybody and their momma has heard of makeup primers by now and its uses and I am also sure there are probably the same amount of people that are skeptical about it. I was too, I heard all about it and read all about it but I was never really convinced of its use. I thought it was just another trick to spend more and in terms of making your makeup last a bit longer, that’s why you have setting sprays/powders- am I right?
But makeup primers are actually beneficial especially face primers (because there are ones for eye shadows, lips and mascara too). Not only do they help with your make up but they are great for your skin. They create a barrier between your skin and your foundation which means it’s not sitting right on top of your skin whereby minimising breakouts, filling in pores and lines etc so your foundation goes on smoother and some are great for controlling oil so your beat face stays on longer!
Fun part
Here are my 3 fav primers I use on a daily basis. I have actually noticed a difference in my skin between when I used to wear makeup regularly without a primer and now that I wear a primer. At the end I will give 3 more primers I think are worth having a look at
The Body Shop All-IN-ONE Insta Blur £14.00/25ml
Available from BodyShop
I really like this primer although I am not a huge fan of its consistency. It comes out thick and clumpy, which can make it a bit difficult to use and spread around so you have to use quite a bit. Sometimes it comes out as a ball and just rolls off my hand lol. But if you look pass all that it’s a really great primer! It creates a nice surface for you to work on and helps to blur your pores. It has 5 benefits which are
- Shine Controlling 12h
- Reduces appearance of pores
- Blemish Hiding
- Complexion Unifying
- Make-up Extending
GOSH COPENHAGEN Foundation Primer Classic, £12.99/30ml
Available from Superdrug
This is my favourite primer! It’s almost like the body shop one but its thinner and spreads easily. It doesn’t do a great job in reducing the appearance of pores but it creates a nice canvas for you to work on.
It also has a pump which is super because its so easy to use!
MAKEUP FOR EVER STEP 1 base mattifying primer, £13.00/15ml
Available from Debenhams
I don’t have super oily skin but I got this because I wanted something to use around my t-zone to control oil. This is great for that! I have used it all over my face once and I didn’t like it because it’s super matte which it’s supposed to be anyway lol. So if you have oily skin you should check this out because it is really good for mattifying.
Extra 3
Benefit The POREfessional primer, £24.50
It won’t be a primer post without it
L’Oreal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Primer, £14.20
Sercet’s is out
Rimmel London Stay Matte Primer Clear 3, £5.99
Get the London Look
I just had to use these cute Christmassy placemats as the background lol
What are your fav primers?
