hihihi, I hope you are well today and thank you for reading my post! Today I’m sharing the wash day routine I follow when I want to focus on moisture and conditioning my hair! Let’s start!

my hair type/strand thickness & porosity is 4c natural hair which is fine. Low to medium porosity & a medium density. Hair focuses– Improve moisture, reduce breakage and length retention

Before we begin, I have 3 main types of wash days that I repeat in a 12 week cycle. This is more of a guideline, I’m learning to listen to my hair to do what it needs so I keep updating this cycle. I’m doing this because I needed a strict guideline to repair my hair from the mistakes I made over the last couple of years. Doing this helps me be more intentional with my hair/wash days.

Wash Days

1- Clarify+ Olapex treatment OR Clarify/Chelate+ Keratin treatment– I alternate between these 2 every 12 – 13 weeks

2- Cleanse(hydrating) +Moisture treatment- main wash day I repeat every 10ish days.(I’m also alternating between deep conditioning with a moisturizing rinse out conditioner & a moisture mask only because Yasmin(hey girl hey) gifted me Shea Moisture conditioners and I got some more on sale for £2 lol. Once I finish these( 6 bottles in total) I will be using the moisture masks only)

3- Clarify/Chelate + Strengthening+Moisture treatment twice a month

Today’s post will be my cleanse & moisture treatment wash day

Prepoo- Cyndy’s hair oil. I use to begin finger detangling process remove shed hair. Also coating the hair with oil prior to washing helps with hydral fatigue. I leave this on with conditioning caps & my foil lined cap for a minimum of 10 mins. I have now finished this bottle and I think the oil is nice especially for sealing the hair.

Shampoo- Keracare Cleansing cream*. I love this shampoo and my full review can be read here . Its great for finger detangling & leaves my hair soft & hydrated.

Deep Conditioner- today I am using the Boucleme Intensive Moisture treatment*. This is my 1st time using this so I will write my full review later. I finger detangle then leave on for 30-45 mins with my hot head thermal cap which I am absolutely loving! after my hair cools down for 5-10 mins, I rinse with warmish water whilst I detangle with the Dyson* wide tooth comb. I detangle in 4 sections then rinse with cold water afterwards. This is something new I’ve been doing this year and so far so good. I only comb detangle after deep conditioning and under running water. This makes it easier because my hair has been softened by the conditioner and the running water helps with slip( handy if the conditioner doesn’t have slip too)

One of my hair goals is to reduce breakage so that I can retain more length. Because I’m starting to learn more about my hair, I’m trying to figure out what a ‘normal’ amount of shedding/breakage is for me. This wash day, I took pictures of the amount of hair lost at each stage. I finger detangle throughout the process but mostly when I’m applying my deep conditioner. I then comb detangle under running water after conditioning. I’m still improving my finger detangling techniques. This is the amount I lost- I don’t know if this is normal for my hair type but I will use this as a baseline going forward

This wash day I blowdried my hair.

I first made my hair regime & cycles based on the fact that I would be washing my hair every week but I’m switching to every 10-12 days. I also have my texture release next month so I will need to check with the stylist on the regime I should follow

I highly recommend the Keracare shampoo. The Boucleme conditioner is almost finished lol. It will probably do half my hair at my next wash day and write my full review- I have many thoughts already!

I hope you found this help! catch you later
