hihi
In todays post, I have a full review of the Keracare cleansing cream I have been using for the last few months to a year. I’m almost out of my bottle so its a good time to share my thoughts on it. For reference, I have fine 4b/4c type hair. My hair is low to medium porosity (more lower) with medium to high density

Keracare describe this product as : Gently cleanses hair and scalp and eases combing. A sulfate-free moisturizing curl wash with Amla, Neem & Shikakai (Ayurvedic) Botanicals plus Argan & Abyssinian oils. Benefits are: Eliminates styling product build-up. Eases combing. Soothes and clarifies dry or itchy scalp conditions.
Experience
This has been my hair shampoo for the last year, I started using it intermittently but towards the end of last year its been my main shampoo, apart from days when I am using Olapex. I have had no reaction to it. The texture is a thick cleansing cream that suds up really well but rinses out easily. The scent is amazing but not over powering. I always lather twice with any shampoo: on the first lather, I don’t get much suds compared to the 2nd but this isn’t down to this shampoo. This happens with a lot of shampoos I use.

Do I like it? Yes, the shampoo works really well to soften my hair, I’m able to finger detangle with this. My hair and scalp feel clean but not stripped. Most recently, I’ve been using this shampoo after doing a slick bun + hot oil pre poo and it still gave me a good clean so its safe to say its good for removing a lot of product build up. Looking at the ingredients, there are a lot of conditioning agents and its also the reason why my hair feels conditioned afterwards too. I was surprised to see a chelating agent on the list but I’m very happy with this as because I live in a hard water area and I believe my water hardness contributed to the excessive dryness I described in my previous post here. I wont rely on this as a chelating shampoo though but its nice I am getting some chelating benefits from this. This shampoo has a ph of 6. This would be the 1st shampoo I have ever used that discloses its pH. I don’t know much about the impact of hair product’s ph on hair but after doing some reading, our scalp’s ph is 5.5 ( acidic) and it thrives in this environment. This shampoo then with the ph of 6 is great for it. It could be why I love it so much and why it has such a good impact on my hair. I don’t test my products for pH, I might do once I learn enough about the topic. I personally don’t mind shampoos with sulfates but if you only use sulfate free shampoos this one is sulfate free.
Verdict– I love this shampoo and it has opened the door to me using more Keracare products. I love how soft and conditioned my hair feels after use, the lovely scent and the slip it provides for finger detangling. One of the claims of this product is that it eases combing and I can 100% confirm that. My kinky coily hair loves this. I’m also happy with the mild chelating properties of the cleansing cream, whilst I still have my dedicated chelating shampoo that I use once every 4 weeks for a deeper clean, it’s nice to use this on a weekly basis without my hair feeling stripped. I’m happy its at a ph that is good for the hair.
I have always known about Keracare since my younger days but it was always out of budget. I’m glad this product has ‘reintroduced’ me to the brand and I have been looking at other products that would be suitable for my hair. I purchased a hair mask from the brand and I cant wait to try it. I will happily repurchase this and highly recommend it.
