Hi everyone, I hope all is well. Today’s post will be a full review on the Eucerin skin Perfecting Serum that I have been using since 6th Dec.

I have normal to combination skin with my main concern been hyperpigmentation. My skin is very prone to dark spots after breakouts which take a while to fully fade. I’m always looking for something to deal with this

Eucerin skin Perfecting Serum- what is it?

A clinically tested, ultra light skin perfecting serum containing Thiamidol to reduce pigment spots and prevent their reappearance. Suitable for all skin types, this serum absorbs quickly and helps skin to look even, refined and with a natural radiant glow.

A bit of clarification because I was confused: there are 2 different anti pigmentation serums from Eucerin, the Eucerin Skin Perfecting Serum and the Eucerin Anti Pigment Dual serum. I had heard a lot of the later serum and it came highly recommended too but the first serum was new to me. I purchased both serums (both were half price  offer lol) because I couldn’t see the differences between the two and the claims are very similar and contain similar ingredients too. The plan is to use them back to back to see if I get much better results

Ok lets get into this

Experience

Ive been using this serum for the last few weeks in my pm routine only, started on 6th Dec 23. The brand does say it can be used both in the am and pm but I have just been using it once in the evening. See my full evening routine and what I paired the serum with here

The serum is ultra-light weight and has a subtle fragrance. It pairs well with all my other products and I have experienced no irritation. I found it hydrating and it sinks into the skin really well. No sticky feeling afterwards. I started using it 2-3x in the first week, 3-4x in the 2nd and then everyday afterwards. I also used it in addition with acids (I was avoiding that before) and my skin could tolerate it well. In the final week, I started using it with the Medki8 R-RETINOATE INTENSE and it did well. My skin could tolerate it, infact my skin was so smooth the next day!. I did have some piling the first time I tried the combo, I think I used too much of the medik8 but subsequent use was fine. It comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. The dropper isn’t my fav thing lol, I feel like its very intermittent but its not the worst I’ve used.

Does it work? The product claims that visible results will be seen in the 1st 2 weeks with regular use! For me, in the 1st 2 weeks I noticed my overall radiance and smoothness of my skin was improved but not necessarily faded dark spots. This was great for me and I really liked that, bearing in mind I was using it once instead of twice and I introduced it slowly in my routine

At the 4-week mark, my skin looked great. The dark spots hadn’t entirely faded but my skin’s overall radiance and smoothness was good, and the spots did seem like they were fading. I had a new spot that left a dark patch (I was so gentle with that spot BUT IT STILL LEFT A MARK SMH lol) but I can see its not as dark as it would usually be. I have dark patches on my chin due to an underlying condition and until that is resolved I don’t really expect any product to fade this area, at least not effectively anyway because it will keep coming back. However, I did notice the area slightly lighter than before.

I finished the bottle on 18th Jan meaning the serum lasted 6 weeks and 1 day lol. In the last week, I started using the serum twice a day just to see if I could get quicker results. I was using it as a spot treatment in the AM on my cheeks and chin then all over my face & neck in the PM. I don’t think it made a huge difference but then again, I only did this for one week.

My before pics are so bad that I cant share them but looking side by side I can see a difference. I really liked this serum and tbh I wish I had 2 of each. The active ingredient is Thiamidol which is a Eucerin-patented ingredient and is backed by years of research. I was able to find one study here

Now I’m going to use the dual serum and report back and promise to take better before and after pictures.

Final thoughts- Even without using the 2nd serum, I want to add this serum/ingredient to my routine permanently. I happy with the ‘slow but sure’ approach and I can see its working. I liked the overall radiance it gave and it did start to fade my dark spots. I’m very happy to keep this going with the Dual serum
