NUNAAT GARLIC MAGIC COLLECTION FIRST IMPRESSIONS

slider4-en

Hey guys, so a few weeks ago nuNAAT sent me the Garlic Magic collection to review. This post will be on my first impression on the use of their products, let’s get started! Check out my posts pervious posts on the collection for more information about them >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-yV

So I got sent the shampoo, conditioner and intensive mask and coincidentally it was wash day a couple days later lool. So I detangled with the conditioner and let that sit for about 10 mins as a pre-poo treatment then I went ahead and shampooed with the shampoo. The shampoo lathers well and did a good job of cleansing the scalp. A little goes a long way! I lathered once because you get a rich foam with just a little bit.

For my ingredient savvy readers, yes it contains sulfate but it didn’t strip my hair because I did the pre poo treatment. I then deep conditioned with the intensive mask for 25 mins. The mask reminds me of the NAAT cream garlic and Cupuacu, a full review of that can be seen here >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-zJ . To think of it, they both smell the same.

Verdict- my first experience with this was good. I will bring you a more in depth review after I use it a bit more, so let’s say end of the month? Watch out for that then, in the meantime, we will carry on with our product collections.

Until next time

Hey guys, welcome back to another product collection. As the title says, this post will be on the new design essentials coconut and monoi collection. As always, I will be providing you with all the products in the collection, reviews and finish with where it can be purchased in the UK. So if you want to know about this range keep on reading 🙂

So the coconut and monoi deep moisture range was created for dry, dull and very thirsty hair. It is infused with coconut and monoi oils (of course) among other nourishing ingredients e.g. sunflower and vitamin E and promises to deliver intense hydration to instantly transform dry, thirsty hair into soft, shiny, revitalized curls. It is a relatively small collection, 5 products in total but with great ingredients. I haven’t used this brand before or these products so I will get you some YouTube reviews at the end.

The full collection is as follows

Coconut & Monoi deep moisture milk crème with argan oil and sunflower

Coconut & Monoi hair coconut water curl refresher with sunflower, milk protein and chamomile

Coconut & monoi deep moisture milk soufflé with sunflower and shea

Coconut & monoi deep moisture oil treatment with argan oil and sunflower

This was featured in my conditioner series, check it out here > http://wp.me/p1uQOd-xW

Coconut & monoi intense shine oil mist with sunflower and vitamin E

So I realised it doesn’t include a shampoo or a leave in conditioner. Let’s get into reviews now, I haven’t used it yet so off to YouTube to get some videos for you

DARK AND LOVELY ANTI SHRINKAGE COLLECTION

Au-Naturale-Group-Pack-Shot-600x428

Hey guys, welcome back

As promised this is the second post on the dark and lovely au naturale hair products.  The first post on their moisture L.O.C. collection can be viewed here>> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-AU .Their anti-shrinkage line promises to reduce shrinkage and elongate your curls. I mean if you have type 4 hair especially you know about shrinkage #shrinkageisreal. Some of us, aka me lol wants to avoid shrinkage as much as possible. I mean I don’t mind a little bit of shrinkage but not full blown shrinkage if you know what I mean. My hair is VERY prone to tangles and breakage when it shrinks and I really don’t have the time to detangling etc.

Anyway this collection has a lot of products, mostly styling products so let’s get into it

  1. Beyond gentle and sulfate free wash
  2. Knout out conditioner
  3. Cleansing conditioner
  4. Easy twist gel and butter
  5. Coil moisturizing soufflé
  6. No crunch nourishing pomade
  7. Knot out conditioner
  8. Slick slip leave in conditioner
  9. 10 in 1 styles gelee
  10. Hydrating soak shampoo
  11. Sheen sealing nectar
  12. Curl defining crème glaze

So yes, it’s definitely a big one, unfortunately I can’t show all the pictures lol, because I am actually running out of space on my WordPress storage lool.  Some of the products can be purchased from British Curlies>> http://shop.britishcurlies.co.uk/dark-and-lovely-au-naturale/

Time for some reviews

What’s the verdict? Let me know what you guys think. Are you using this line, if so what is your experience so far? So the 3rd and final collection is their anti-breakage collection which will be coming soon.

Until then

Love

DARK AND LOVELY MOISTURE L.O.C

2015DarkandLovely2

Hey guys! Another product collection! This time we are headed to Dark and lovely for the next 3 posts to look at their natural hair products collections. To my knowledge they have 3 different collections for natural hair:

Au Naturale moisture L.O.C (Today’s post)

Au Naturale anti shrinkage

Au Naturale anti breakage

So we will be looking at them individually over the next couple of posts.

The moisture L.O.C (liquid, oil, cream) collection was inspired by the L.O.C method that naturals use to moisturise their hair. If you struggle with this method, wondering what products to use, then this collection was designed to take out that guesswork! They say the line was created to work together to deliver up to 7 days of long lasting moisture (hmm, do I see a challenge coming on?). Great ingredient list including coconut oil and moringa oil.

The full collection is as follows

Sulfate free shampoil (I featured this in my cleansing series)

Deep conditioning delight

Super quench leave in spray

Soak it up cocktail

Lock it in sealing cream

You know what guys, I am going to contact them to see if they can provide the products for my challenge ( I will let you know if they responded or ignored) , if not I will purchase them myself and let you guys know the outcome! Challenge accepted! The full range can be bought online from British Curlies >> https://store-h17m3tq1.mybigcommerce.com/dark-and-lovely-au-naturale/ , join in the challenge #7daymoisturechallenge and let’s see if it lives up to its name. For more information on their products, please visit their website >> http://www.softsheen-carson.com/dark-and-lovely/au-naturale-moisture-l-o-c/c/pl

That’s all folks! Let’s continue with the au Naturale anti shrinkage collection

Until then

MON SHEA FULL REVIEW

20150624_125006

Hey guys! I hope you guys are doing well. As the title suggests this post will be the full review on the products I received from Mon Shea last month. If you haven’t already check out my first impressions of the products >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-ys

Let’s get straight to it!

So I chose to review the Pure Shea soap and the shea oil. I used the soap to wash my hair and I must say I LOVED IT! It lathers really well and mean really well! I use it ONCE! NO need for a second lather. It doesn’t strip my hair, infact I feel my hair clumping as soon as I apply it on my hair. Once is enough to cleanse the scalp and hair. I love the ease of use of this shampoo bar, wash day has never been quicker! It can also be used as a body soap but I haven’t used it for that purpose yet. It smells like normal soap actually if you’re from Ghana and you can remember the smell of key soap or duck soap or ameen soap LOL it kinda reminds me of that. If you’re not from Ghana, it smells like regular soap LOL

sheaso

Shea oil. I have used this for my body and not my hair yet. I LOVE the way it leaves my skin leaving- silky soft. I am DEFINATLEY purchasing this once it’s finished! It absorbs quickly and doesn’t sit on top of your skin. It’s also very good for dry/cracked heels. And leaves a lovely glow. I remember I used it on my legs when I wore a skirt out. I applied it in the morning, around 7am and at 3pm I did the scratch test LOL. Wait Sarah what? Ok every black person has done the scratch test without realising it lol. You know when you want to test if your skin is dry or not, you scratch it lol, if you get a white line you need some cream if not you’re good to go LOL ( now tell me you never done that before?) anyway at 3pm I decided to do the test and nope! No white mark!  It’s so easy to use and spread. I also like the smell, I mean it smells of shea butter and I like how shea butter smells on my skin. I will definitely recommend this! Especially in the summer when you don’t want heavy creams etc sitting on your skin! I’m trying to use this for my hair but guys I just love it for my skin so much!

83e893e74c-

Verdict- its two thumbs up from me! I love the multi of these products. I definitely will recommend you try them out. I have been using the oil in combo with my African black soap and my skin has never looked better!  Once again I used the pure shea oil and soap from Mon Shea. Check out their website for the full range of products >> http://www.monsheabutter.co.uk/

That’s all folks. I hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below. Also keep up to date with me on my social media so don’t miss any of my shenanigans lol.

CLEANSING SERIES: CLAYS

FotorCreated

Hey guys and welcome back to my blog. So as you know we are currently doing the cleansing series and today we will be talking about cleansing clays. If you haven’t already, check out the previous posts so far:

Shampoos>> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-za

Co washing>> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-zZ

There are a number of clays that you could use to gently cleanse your hair without stripping its oils. The most popular ones are (yes you guessed it) bentonite, rhassoul and kaolin clay. Maybe kaolin is not as popular as the latter two, but it’s still well used.

Cleansing clays are a great alternative to shampoos or co-washing. I only used these clays (Bentonite and rhassoul this year in May, I know I’m late lool) but I really liked them and now they are part of my cleansing routine when I don’t want to shampoo or co-wash.  I already have reviews of them on here so I am not going to talk about them in detail here. I will just be repeating stuff, so please please read those posts, I will link them below

Kaolin clay

kaolin-clay-benefits-skin-side-effects-properties

I actually found out about this as I was doing my research for this post. Kaolin clay aka white clay is very rich in silica and it also great in detoxifying the hair. It is mild enough to cleanse the hair and scalp without stripping its oils which makes it great for dry hair. It can apparently increase strength and elasticity and slow down the aging process of hair. Below are some really good videos I found on it

Bentonite clay

bento

Read review here >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-wg

I purchased mine from SheaButterCottage, link>> http://www.sheabuttercottage.com/products_map.php?symb=A

Rhassoul clay

images

Read review here>> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-us

I also got this from SheaButter Cottage, link above

I know a lot of people prefer rhassoul clay to bentonite clay but for me it’s the opposite. I loved how it made my hair feel afterwards and it did a better job cleansing my scalp than the rhassoul clay. Top tip- they work better when they do not come in contact with metal.

Here’s a video comparing all 3 clays

That’s all folks, I hope you try these clays as part of your routine! The last instalment will be on water and oil rinsing, hopefully I can get that to you soon. Connect with me on my social media, all the links will be under the social tab.

Until next time

Love
