Caudalie Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser Review

Caudalie’s new Vinopure Purifying Gel Cleanser promises a lot of things. The brand says:

The first essential step in your beauty routine against blemishes, the Purifying Cleansing Gel, enriched in natural salicylic acid, grapeseed polyphenols and organic* essential oils, cleanses and purifies the skin without leaving it dry. Its gentle and effective formula works to tighten pores, reduce excess sebum and visibly reduce blemishes. Its gel texture leaves skin feeling instantly fresh and clean. A light and surprising, 100% natural scent derived from a unique complex of essential oils that delivers a breath of freshness with each use.

Benefits: Purifies, Tackles blemishes, Minimises pores and Reduces excess sebum

Experience

I received the 30ml size as a free gift with purchase from Beautylish.

I’ve been using this cleanser both morning and night (as a second cleanser)

What I liked: this cleanser has salicylic acid (BHA) which helps to reduce blemishes and reduce pore size. I really liked this cleanser because it did exactly that. I had a few breakouts in my lower cheek area and this cleanser helped. The cleanser produces a light foam which is easy to rinse away but doesn’t try out the skin. Normally around this time, my skin would be oilier but I have felt my skin be more balanced. It has a minty medicated scent but this doesn’t linger. It’s gentle enough for daily use. As a second cleanser, it works well to remove makeup and oily residue left over by my balm cleanser

Verdict

This is a great cleanser and I would highly recommend to oily and blemish-prone skin types. The BHA in the cleanser helps reduce breakouts and pore size as well and balancing the skin. I used this twice a day but it never dried out my skin. I like the fresh scent and feeling it leaves my skin. I won’t recommend this for dry skintypes

I will definitely purchase this but it would be a cleanser I use in the warmer months as that’s when my skin tends to be oilier and blemish-prone.

Review Round up: Makeup

I have another batch of reviews for you! I will be talking about a few concealers I have been using over the last couple of years and some other makeup products.

Let’s start

I love concealers and over the years I have tried a few. Those tiny products are great for multitasking and can be used for highlighting, contouring, bronzing and concealing depending on the shade you get. You can even use it as a foundation if you get a good match and yes concealers can be used for contouring or bronzing( you don’t need a specific ‘contouring’ product to contour with).

MUA ProBase Full Coverage Concealers– these are described as full coverage but I found them quite sheer when blended. It does layer well and can be built to medium coverage at most without looking cakey. They are really cheap so I don’t mind but I think there are other cheap concealers that are much better. I have the shades 182 and 183 which are quite similar but I love the undertones of them.  * Gifted product

Makeup Revolution Fast base concealers– I really like this concealer. It is medium coverage and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It’s a twist-up pen with a sponge tip applicator so whilst it’s easy to apply, that sponge tip is not good for blending. I have the shade C13 which is always the concealer shade I get from this brand. I like this better than the MUA concealers. This gives more of a satin finish.

Sephora Bright Future Gel- Serum concealer- I fell in love with this concealer on a trip to NY a long time ago but I didn’t get it then because the shade I wanted was out of stock. A few years back my friends went to Canada and I asked them to pick this up for me but the shade is too dark so I don’t use it often. This concealer is medium coverage and easy to blend. I actually didn’t realise how dark this shade is, I will start using it as a base for cream bronzer/contour. This gives a radiant finish without overpowering.  I need to go to Sephora but since there isn’t one in the UK and the US site doesn’t ship to UK, I have to wait to go on holiday, find a Sephora and get a better shade. I have the shade Truffle

MAC Prolong wear concealer– this is a full coverage creamy concealer that feels slightly heavy on the skin. I love this, a little goes a long way with this concealer. The only reason why I don’t use it as much is that it’s in a pump bottle and I am used to using concealers with a doe-foot applicator. Application with the concealer is messier but the coverage is great. I have the shade NC50. This doesn’t give a matte finish but it’s not too dewy either.

Moving on from concealers, we have some complexion products

Iconic London Illuminator- so this illuminator is very popular and whilst I can see why the shade is wrong for my skin tone. I got this in an advent calendar a while back but I don’t use it at all. The shade is quite light so it can look ashy/slivery on me.  I have the shade ‘original’. I have tried using it with darker foundations but I do not like the undertone it gives them

GlamGlow Glow starter Moisturiser– this is actually a moisturiser but I don’t like shimmer in my skincare products. I mix it with another primer to give my makeup a radiant finish. I really like this. It smells great, moisturises my skin and leaves a light golden glow. It doesn’t pill when mixed with my primer and works well under foundation. I have the shade nude glow

Danessa Myricks Colour Fix– I’m obsessed with Danessa Myricks! She’s an amazing MUA I follow on Insta and she has these amazing products called ColorFix. This is a cream multitasking product that can be used anywhere on the face. I have used this as blush, lipstick and eye shadow. This is the matte version and you don’t really need to set it. Its transfer and waterproof and it’s also long-wearing. I really like this shade. She has a ton of other shades and different finishes. I have the shade coffee cake

That’s all the reviews for this batch of reviews! Make sure you check out some of these products, especially Danessa Myricks!

Garnier UV Water SPF 50 Mist Review

This year I wanted to test out a few different ways of reapplying SPF over makeup for dark skin. The main way to do this is using SPF mineral powder however when it comes to dark shades there are practically non-existent!

The next best thing was SPF mists and whilst there are a few on the market, I always wondered if they would be invisible enough for dark skin. I ‘ve got a few to test out, today’s post will be a full review and demo on the Garnier UV Water SPF 50 Mist. I saw this in Boots and immediately picked it up.

What the brand says:

Our UV Water refreshing protecting mist offers a triple benefit:

Instantly protects skin from sun damage caused by UVA and UVB rays

Refreshes skin with an immediate -2 degree Celsius skin cooling effect*

Enriched with Aloe Vera water, it hydrates for up to 24 hours.

The 360 degree circular diffuser makes it fast, precise and easy to apply. The formula is non-sticky, invisible on skin and water resistant.

Garnier suncare is recognised by the British Skin Foundation.

Experience

Type of sunscreen: chemical in a mist/spray format

What I liked: the innovative applicator means it did not shoot out like a jet stream. It was diffused enough to cover a good amount of skin. It also has a cooling effect which means on a hot day this was quite refreshing to use. When sprayed over makeup it leaves the skin glowing

What I didn’t like: unfortunately this isn’t 100% invisible on the skin. As you can see in my picture, it leaves white spots all over my skin! Of course, I can easily brush it away with powder but it claims to be invisible on the skin and if you are wearing anything black or dark, prepare to have white spots all over this.

I didn’t actually realise on the back of the can it says fair skin on it. Does this mean it’s only marketed to those skin tone?

Personally, I don’t mind the glow this gives but for someone who is extremely oily this will come across as super oily.

Verdict

In theory, this would have been so nice to use! It’s cooling and refreshing and provides SPF 50 protection however it is not invisible on the skin. I don’t want to always have to powder after using this or check a mirror to see if I have covered all the white spots it leaves!

I won’t repurchase and I won’t recommend for darker skin tones.

It’s important to note SPF mists should only be used for reapplications and should not be the main SPF you apply!

Beauty Pie Jeju Daily Rehydration Mist Review

You guys know my love for Beauty Pie skincare, I have tried a lot of their products and repurchased a lot too. check out my 2 month BP challenge here

Today’s post will be a full review on the Beauty Pie Jeju Daily Rehydration Mist.

What the brand says:

A super antioxidant, energizing and hydrating mist!

Just a couple of pumps, after cleansing, over makeup, through the day, will make your skin appear supple and lovely. With hydrating hyaluronic acid, energizing bamboo grass, antioxidant Jeju yoshino blossom and antioxidant scutellaria root-it’s an absolute’must-dew’.

Experience

The Jeju collection is a 4 product 1 tool strong collection and I have 3 out of the 4 products. I have been using the mist as a toner in both my morning and evening routines, after cleansing and before serums etc. I’ve been using it over 3 weeks and I have enough for another week or so.

What I liked: the mist has an amazing scent, it’s not overpowering. The formula is blending of antioxidants and hydrating ingredients and I find it quite soothing and hydrating. It quite softening on the skin and it sinks into the skin quickly without leaving it oily or forming a ‘shiny film’ on the skin. It leaves my skin glowing

What I didn’t like: this has to be one of the worst spritzers I have used. It shoots in a stream and hits you in the face lol. After 2 days, I had to decant it into a different spray bottle

Verdict

100% will recommend and will repurchase. I love how easy it is to add to any routine and how well it works with other products. Its hydrating, softening and has antioxidants. The only issue I have is the spritzers! If they fix it, it will be the perfect spray toner! Until then, I will be decanting it into another spray bottle.

I’ve been using the Cleansing milk and will be reviewing soon.

Bioderma Photoderm Max Aquafluide SPF50 Review

This year I have been focusing on well-formulated, well-researched sunscreen formulas with better sunscreen filters. That lead me to Photoderma Max is Bioderma’a excellent sun care collection. I went with the Aquafluide SPF 50

What the brand says:

Offers a very high UVA/UVB anti-shine protection

Pleasant and easy application thanks to a fluid texture as light as water

Dry touch finish

Ideal for all skin types, even combination to oily skin, sensitive skin or intolerant to all types of sunlight, very fair skin with freckles, skin exposed to maximum sunlight

Oil-free formula – Non-greasy texture

Good skin tolerance – Non comedogenic – Unfragranced – Water resistant

Experience

Type of sunscreen– chemical. Although one of the filters is a hybrid: meaning its behaves partly as a physical and chemical filter

What I liked: I’ve been interested in newer and more efficient chemical filters like the Tinosorb family. This sunscreen has both Tinosorb M and S which studies show are much more stable and offer excellent broad-spectrum protection in addition to other chemical filters. The texture of this is very fluid: extremely light and spreads quite well on the skin. It doesn’t leave a greasy finish and doesn’t clog pores. It layers quite well on moisturiser. It doesn’t leave an extremely matte finish but it has a dry touch finish

What I didn’t like: unfortunately this sunscreen is NOT invisible on dark skin. In the picture below, I’ve let the SPF sit for at least 2 mins then gone in and blended it some more. I also noticed when I use too much of this (which happens a lot lol), it can ball up a bit under foundation and make it look slightly textured. It’s not a huge deal and only happens when I use too much product.

Verdict

I really love the lightweight fluid texture and formula of this sunscreen even though it’s not invisible on the skin. I have been using it on days when I am going to work because I can cover this with makeup. In fact it works well underneath powder foundation because of the dry touch finish.

It doesn’t say to shake before application but I do anyways.

I won’t repurchase only because it’s not invisible on my skin tone. If they can fix that cast, this would honestly be one of my favourite sunscreens to date! I may keep it till I run out of it.

6 Months’ Worth of Empties!

It’s officially half way through 2020, the year with the most surprises, twists and turns! What will the series finale be like?

Anyway, I’ve been keeping all my empties so far and here they are! 6 months worth of empties. I’ve divided them into different categories and I will also link my reviews and where to buy. I will also be doing some mini-reviews and mentioning my fav items!

Cleansers-14

I finished a few cleansers so far! My favourite ones were First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser, Olay Foaming Cleansing Jelly and Farmacy Clean Bee. My reviews here and here.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing gel will also have a special place in my heart. Omorovicza Cleansing Foam was also great- I have actually repurchased this already. Estee Lauder Advanced Night Cleanser is also a repurchase. I also have to give a shout out to Caudalie Purifying Gel Cleanser

Definitely the most disappointing cleanser in this category was the Nivea MicellAIR.

Toners-12

Ok so lots of toners I loved this year Beauty Pie Jeju Daily Mist, Dermalogica Multi Active Toner, Barry M serum mists and Indie Lee Q10.

A huge surprise was the Superdrug Energising Mist– this is formulated with Vitamin C so helps to brighten the skin. The spritzer is great too and I really loved using it twice a day to hydrated and soften my skin. I would repurchase.

The biggest disappointment was the Inkey List PHA toner. Review here

Serums & oils-18

My favourite type of skincare product! Serums! Shout out to Peter Thomas Roth Potent C, Dermatica and Beauty Pie Vitamin C capsules. I also love the Inkey List’s Vitamin C and Q10– lost count of the amount of repurchases.

Superdrug’s Simply Pure Hydrating serum is cheap and very effective and Dermalogica C12 Pure Bright serum was very nice.

What I didn’t like? Surprisingly the Murad Rapid Age Spot serum and the First Aid beauty hydrating serum didn’t make a difference.

Moisturisers& SPF-17

My second favourite category of skincare! I’ve tried a few SPFs so far this year. my favourites are Nivea Moisture Lock SPF 50, Murad Essential C SPF30 and the La Roche Posay Fresh Mist( full review coming soon). I do like the Estee Lauder Aqua UV Gel and Nivea Shine Control SPF50 as well. My full reviews for all these SPFs and more are under Dark Skin Sunscreens.

I LOVED Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Moisturiser, Dermalogica Pure Light and Dermalogica Active Moist.

I was most disappointed by CosRX Aloe SPF50. I heard so much of this but when I finally tried it I didn’t like it. Full review under Dark skin SPFs!

Face mask-6

I’m surprised I didn’t finish a lot of masks! The most impressive one is the Clinique Overnight Surge. This mask saved my skin earlier this year, so much so that I purchased the full size! It’s soothing, calming and hydrating. I use it as the last step just before sleeping and it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It doesn’t pill when layered onto the other products I use as well. I love the whole Moisture Surge collection and this product in addition to the mist are my favs.

Beauty Pie fruitzyme mask is a great one for exfoliation. Check out my full review here. Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask was great at balancing oily skin without stripping the skin. its also hydrating. I got this mask in their mini mask set and is one of my fav ones.

The Oh K 3 step mask was great

Haircare-9

Again not much in this category but I finished some really old items. ORS Curls Unleashed Leave in and Garnier Maple Healer has been in my collection for a while. The latter is an amazing conditioner, the former is not so great as a leave in

Palmers Mallows Root Spray leave in is my current favourite conditioner, I have 4 backups.

Mielle Organics cowash was disappointing to use

Makeup-6

Its so difficult to finish a makeup product so when I do I get really excited!

I really like the Mac Studio Fix Powder foundation, I have 2 backups of this. my full review is here. The Emani Perfect 10 serum primer is also great.

GlamGlow Nude Moisturiser– technically a moisturiser but it’s so heavily scented and slightly silvery so I used it as an illuminator

The least fav item here is the Tarte Mascara, it dried out so quickly and it didn’t make a huge difference.

Bodycare-10

This year I’ve been focusing on trying active on my body. I started with Nivea Q10 plus Vitamin C. this lotion has a Vitamin C derivative and helps to firm and brighten the skin. I have the version for dry skin. It’s a light lotion and it leaves the skin hydrated without any oily residue. I have noticed my complexion looks healthier and more even. It hasn’t completely gotten rid of dark spots but the appearance of them is improving. I really like this lotion, I’m currently on my 3rd bottle of this and I plan to repurchase soon. As for firmer skin in 10 days, my skin looks better but I don’t have ‘loose’ skin so I don’t know lol. My skin appears better.

Soap & Glory Flakeaway and righteous butter are repurchases! Nivea Mousse was definitely interesting to use but I feel they should change the packaging.

Disappointing product? Clarins Lip oil– it started so well and in the end it was all pretty but no substance.

Other-8

Finally some random but essential items, hand gels, hand wipes etc

Total-100

I wanted to do 150 empties but I missed my mark! unto the next 6 months

Are you picking up anything new based on my empties, let me know!

More reviews under the Review tab!

Stay safe!

What are Vitamin C Derivatives?

We know Vitamin C to be the gold standard ingredient when it comes to antioxidants and skin brightening but L-Ascorbic acid in its true form is a highly unstable ingredient. Sunlight, air and temperature are just some of the things that can set it off and make it unstable. This is why a good vitamin c product should always be packaged well in opaque airless containers. If your Vitamin C serum changes colour e.g. turns brown it’s no longer effective. High concentrations of Vitamin C are also extremely notorious for skin irritation and generally speaking you would also need a high percentage of Vitamin C in order to experience the full benefits of it.

Vitamin C derivatives are different forms of Vitamin C that have been formulated to be more stable but offer the same skin brightening benefits as Ascorbic acid. There is a lot on the market but I will talk about the 3 derivatives I have had the most experience with.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) – this a water-soluble Vitamin C derivative with the same skin brightening properties of Ascorbic acid. Even though it’s not as potent as Ascorbic acid, this derivative is less irritating meaning that most people can tolerate it as high (ish) percentages.

I first came across MAP from The Ordinary’s MAP 10% serum. I really love this product because it’s lightweight and hydrating and it worked well to brighten my skin. MAP is always the Vitamin C I recommend to others when they want a good starting point. My full review is here

Ascorbyl Glucoside– this is another water-soluble Vitamin C derivative and it’s considered one of the best derivatives on the market. This one also offers skin brightening and antioxidant benefits as well as boosting collagen synthesis.  This is the type I find quite common in products on the market. You can find Ascorbyl glucoside in Vichy Normaderm Double Correction Daily Care, Avene A-Oxitive Defence Serum and of course The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% which is how I came to know of it and love it.  Remember if it’s been formulated with other ingredients, it needs to be listed within the 1st 5 or10 ingredients in order to truly benefit from it

Read my full review of this serum here

THD Ascorbate– this is a fat/lipid-soluble derivative of Vitamin C which allows it to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin. Again you are getting the best of vitamin C without the irritation. I haven’t used a lot of products with this derivate but there are plenty out there. I first came across THD in the Sunday Riley CEO serum and cream. The CEO serum contains 15% THD however I did not like this serum. Read my full review of it here. This year, I used the Peter Thomas Roth Potent C serum which contains 20% THD along with Vitamin E and Ferulic acid. I’m not sure if it’s the higher THD percentage or the combination of other antioxidants but I really liked it and it helped to brighten my skin. My full review of the PTR serum is here

Summary

Vitamin C is naturally found in the skin but with ageing and environmental damage, production of it slows down. Finding a well-formulated Vitamin C serum can be quite tricky as there are tons on the market. My recommendation will always be to find a well packaged and well-formulated one e.g. in an opaque airless container and preferably a serum/cream that also contains other beneficial ingredients.

I would recommend the Ordinary MAP and Ascorbyl Glucoside as budget-friendly options. If you want the real deal, The Inkey List Vitamin C is another favourite of mine which is pure 30% L ascorbic acid. My full review is here. This serum is in a waterless formula so it’s slightly tricky to add to a routine and you can experience irritation. In my full review, I explain how and why I mix it with another serum. Be sure to also check out the full Vitamin C range from The Ordinary too.

For luxury options, I recommend PTR Potent-C serum or Ole Henriksen Banana Bright serum which is a different derivative of Vitamin C plus PHA. Sunday Riley CEO is another popular choice although it didn’t work for me

I prefer to use my Vitamin C serums in the morning underneath my SPF in order to get the best possible protection against the sun and the environment however you can also use them in the evening or even twice a day. I personally don’t think layering two or 3 different Vitamin C products will give you more results so don’t be tempted to do that.

In short, find a good Vitamin C serum and start using it!

Let me know your favourite Vitamin C serums!

Elizabeth Arden Superstart Skin Renewal Booster review

I haven’t used much of Elizabeth Arden’s products but out of the 2 I previously tried, I fell in love with one which was the 8 Hr Miracle Mist. I wasn’t really looking for Elizabeth Arden products last year but when I came across the Superstart Skin renewal Booster and I was quite interested in it.

What the brand says:

Elizabeth Arden SUPERSTART Skin Renewal Booster helps restore the healthy look of skin’s surface layer, fortifying its natural ability to repair and renew. Designed for Every Woman. Every Skin Type.

Experience

So last Christmas, I purchased the 30ml booster in a gift set forgetting I had already told my bf I wanted it for Christmas lol. I ended up with 2 of these which I didn’t mind because I could really test out the claims of the product. I used the first one earlier this year, finished it and went a month without it before starting my second bottle. I’ve been using my second bottle for about a month and a half now.

The booster is a lightweight serum which feels really nice and soothing on the skin with a delicate subtle scent. I use it mostly in my evening routine but I have also added it to my morning routine a lot of times. I use it after toning before any serums. The booster alone feels hydrating on the skin and I haven’t experienced any pilling when I have layered other products on top of this. I really like the product on its own and I liked that it helped to soothe my skin when I damaged my skin barrier due to over acid use.

The booster contains some probiotic and other ingredients that help to strengthen the skin barrier keeping it healthy. You also get some anti-microbial ingredients in here as well as some hydrating ingredients

Verdict

Does it help to boost the effectiveness of other products? I used the booster with products I haven’t used before so whether it helped them be more effective who knows. Did I notice any difference with the time it takes to notice results from products? No, not really.

I like the booster as a standalone product because there were many times I layered simple hydrating serums over this and called it a night. I like that it helped restore my skin when it was irritated from over acid use, in fact I really like this for helping to soothe and restore the skin. It layers well, has an amazing texture and it’s a good product on its own.

I guess I would have to use the booster with a product I am quite familiar with in order to test out the claims of boosting a product’s effectiveness.

I will repurchase but not straight away, maybe at Christmas when it comes back in a gift set.

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Moisturiser Review

PTR is one of my favourite luxury brands! I have tried a lot of their products and I feel like the more I try the more I love. Today’s post is no different, I have a full review of their moisturiser I used last month (I wrote this review when I was still using it)

What the brand says

Drench your skin with a liquid cloud of moisture drawn from the atmosphere. This concentrated 30% Hyaluronic Acid Complex cream provides up to 72 hours of hydration—even after cleansing. Three molecular sizes of Hyaluronic Acid, a potent hydrator that can constantly attract and retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water from moisture in the atmosphere, help replenish skin to make it appear more supple, full and smooth. Ceramides help lock in moisture while ProHyal+® helps improve hydration for healthier-looking skin. Antioxidant-rich Elderberry helps defy the look of aging. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is visibly reduced, leaving a silky, hydrated and more youthful-looking complexion. Oil-free, alcohol-free, fragrance-free.

Experience

I was using this moisturiser twice a day, morning and night. This is a gel-cream textured moisturiser, it goes from a cream to a gel when massaged onto the skin. It has a pleasant scent and didn’t irritate my skin. I got mine in the A list kit on Beautylish.  It was only 20ml and I got a week’s use out of it (bear in mind I used it twice a day)

What I liked: this gel-cream texture is super lightweight and it sinks into the skin quickly. I found it soothing and hydrating and it layers well on top of creams. I would sometimes layer oil on it as part of my PM routine and I got no pilling. The texture of this moisturiser is great for combination (my skin type) and oily skins but tbh I think it would be great for most skin types. It hydrates without feeling heavy on the skin and leaves no oily residue.

The main ingredient is Hyaluronic acid which we know to be a great ingredient when it comes to hydrating and plumping the skin. This moisturiser leaves my skin hydrated, plump and healthier looking. It also has other beneficial ingredients like ceramides and antioxidants

Verdict

A great moisturiser that I fell in love with! They have recently released this with added SPF45 and from the reviews, I have seen, it is invisible n dark skin! Do you know how excited that makes me lol?

As I said earlier, I got mine in the A list kit. ( full kit products below) I 100% recommend this kit because it contains most of PTR bestselling products in deluxe/travel sizes and these will last you long enough to get a good feel of the products and brand.

Peter Thomas Roth A list kit is $58 on Beautylish

YourGood Skin Comforting Gel Cleanser Review

I did the 28 Your Good Skin challenge when the brand first launched in 2017. Since then I have repurchased the SPF30 moisturizer a LOT and recommended it to so many people. Your Good skin is a good budget-friendly brand so when I was looking for a balmy cleanser I made sure to check it out.

I picked the YourGood Skin Comforting Gel Cleanser which is now finished so I can bring you my full review!

What the brand says

WORKING WITH YOUR “SKIN”

This transforming gel gently melts away make-up, excess oil & daily impurities.

THE “GOOD” THINGS

From first use, skin looks healthy & feels instantly nourished. Skin feels smooth, supple & moisturized. Proven to give you more good skin days. Formulated without parabens & fragrance-free. Dermatologically tested & suitable for all skin, even sensitive.

Experience

This was my first cleanse in my evening double cleansing routine. This cleanser is a gel which transforms into oil then emulsifies into milk.  It has a mild scent but I did not experience any irritation.

This cleanser does great to remove traces of makeup, grime and oils. I use a fair amount of the gel and massage it on dry skin till it turns into an oil. How long this takes depends on the amount I dispense. Once it turns into oil, it moves around easily on the skin. They describe it as a ‘light oil’ but I don’t think the oil feels light on the oil. After massing for a few seconds, I add a bit of warm water to start emulsifying it. I keep doing this until it turns into milk then rinse it away with warm water. I found that using cold or room temperature water doesn’t emulsify it properly and after rinsing leaves a residue on the skin. Rinsing the milk away with warm water leaves a slight residue on the skin.

The main ingredients in this cleanser are the same across the brand, it’s been formulated with green tea, bisabolol and vitamin C.

Verdict

I do like this cleanser and I think it’s the drugstore dupe for the Beauty Pie Japanfusion cleanser which I love. They are similar in terms of texture but the main difference is that the BP Japanfusion leave rinses away clean and it’s easier to turn into an oil and milk.

This is a great cleanser but it has to be removed with warm water. It does well with removing makeup and SPF. Whilst it leaves some residue on the skin, my second cleanser is able to pick this up.

The member’s price for the BeautyPie cleanser is the same as this one however non-members pay the full price which is £25. If you don’t want to join BeautyPie, the comforting Gel cleanser is your best bet.

I will recommend this as a 1st cleanse in the evening only and go in with a second cleanser to remove the residue. Sticking with the brand, I recommend the Refreshing Cleanser

YourGood Skin Comforting Gel Cleanser is £6 in Boots
