Crown Pride Naturals

crr

Hey lovely people! It’s a hot day here in the UK, how you spending it? Whatever you’re doing, don’t forget that sunscreen (unless you’re at work like me lool) and enjoy! It will probably rain soon lool.

Any hooo, I am back with another UK based natural hair collection! It’s been a while huh?  From the results I have gotten so far from my Laika Project (Thank you for those who have taken part so far! If you haven’t already, you can take the survey here >> https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1k9hvKmw3wjICTL-rFAqo3XxF29eO5l9MzJXeI1X1W8w/viewform?c=0&w=1 )it seems that most of us in the UK are not even aware of the UK brands out there that cater to us. This is where I come in. I have featured a few UK based brands that offer natural hair care products right here on my blog for you to check out! Look under the product collections tab for all of them!

Today is no different, we will be focusing on Crown Pride Naturals, a UK based company offering products for our hair texture. As always I will be showing you where to get them (because it seems that is a problem too for us) and any reviews on the products! Ready? Let’s get started

So they have a few products designed to help you from start to finish on your wash day.

NUNAAT CREAM GARLIC AND CUPUACU REVIEW

NAAT-Cream-Garlic-Cupuacu-260x260

Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing ok so far. How is your summer going? Good I hope.

So as promised, there is the final full review for the NAAT cream Garlic and Cupuacu I purchased from the WITJ2015 event ( if you missed the event, you can read my event cover by clicking this link >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-wx ). Ok so let’s get started!

Before I get into details, here’s what nuNaat have to say about the product:

NAAT Cream Garlic & Cupuacu is ideal for brittle hair. Specially formulated to strengthen and repair cuticles, leaving hair softer, healthier and completely revitalized. The perfect treatment for split ends.

BENEFITS

Deep moisturizing in 5 minutes or less

Suitable for daily use, in place of conditioner

One for every hair need

Can be combined to create a customized formula for your hair type

So does it live up to it?

YES. From the first use, I noticed a lot less shedding and my hair was left softer. I like that it doesn’t have any garlic or harsh smell. What I love the most though? Is the size, a full 1kg worth of goodness which provides 50+ applications (description on tub)! I think I got a bit carried away and I have now fully realised how much I saturate (over) my hair with conditioner when it comes to conditioning! I have used it four times now, and I think I have a bit more left for another 3 or 4 applications! (Tut tut, Smh Sarah).

For a blast of protein, I mixed one egg with the Naat cream and left on for about 30 minutes and my hair was strengthened with less shedding too. I’m not sure about the split ends as I don’t have any (well that’s what I think lol) and I haven’t noticed any difference in the state of my ends whilst using this product.

Verdict

It’s definitely worth it! We naturals are notoriously known to use more conditioner that anything else so I am happy that this comes in a bigger size! I think I am set for the rest of the year for conditioner, between the others I already had and these NAAT creams (I got 3 for £10 pounds from the event!), I am definitely good.

It also has good slip for finger detangling should you wish to multi use this product or condition before you cleanse.

I am not sure where you can purchase this yet in the UK (sorry guys) and I can’t seem to find it in on Amazon too. Anyway if you happen to come across it or you have been wondering about it then give it a go, you won’t regret it!

Check out the other creams in the range, watch the video below for a full explanation on them

That’s all folks, now moving onto the next NAAT cream and of course I will report back to you as usual. Until next time

Love

Sarah

CANTU FOR NATURAL HAIR COLLECTION

cantu_product_2

Hey guys! Welcome back. This post will be on the Cantu for natural hair product collection. It’s a very exciting range with lots of goodies and we are going to talk about them (even though I don’t own all of them lol) and where possible, I will include links on reviews or demos from YouTube so you don’t have to do all that work! Excited? Let’s get started!

So the full product range includes

  1. Sulfate free cleansing cream shampoo
  2. Complete conditioning co wash
  3. Deep conditioning treatment masque
  4. Coil calm detangler
  5. Leave in conditioning cream
  6. Creamy hair lotion
  7. Coconut curling cream
  8. Define and shine custard
  9. Moisturising curl activator cream
  10. Moisturising twist and lock gel
  11. Coconut milk shine and hold mist

That’s a whole bunch of products! I like this because it has everything from shampoo to deep conditioners and styling options.  I have 3 of them: the co-wash, leave in conditioner and the hair lotion. My fav is the creamy hair lotion. That stuff is the bomb.com and let me not start on the smell! So nice! It really softens the hair and leaves it moisturised! I love the leave in too. I use it as part of my L.O.C method after washing. For ultimate curl moisture, I use the leave in on soaking wet hair and seal with my shea butter mix, twist and let air dry. The next day I take it down and add a bit of creamy lotion and boom softness and moisture for daysss. The co wash I am torn on, maybe I need to use it more. I mean it cleansed my scalp but I didn’t notice anything amazing afterwards.

my cantu collection

The leave in cream for naturals is a bit different from the regular version, the one we all know and love. This one contains no mineral oil, parabens, sulfate etc. make the switch if you haven’t already!

Difference
Difference

So that’s it for my reviews on the products I own. I have searched wide and combed through thousands of footage for… lool, the hell am I on about? Here are some links I found useful on YouTube on the products. There is nothing worse than watching a video and realising it wasn’t what you were looking for. Please note most of these if not all are videos from the US. I’m not sure if we have all the products here in the UK because I couldn’t see some of the ones mentioned on the Cantu website where I got the product list.

Video links

Entire product range

Coconut curling cream

Moisturising curl activator and define and shine custard

Conditioner, mist and lotion

Twist and lock gel, treatment masque and coconut curling cream

That’s all folks! I hope someone found this useful. If you are transitioning and wondering what products are out there for naturals I hope this gives you an idea of some. I will be doing loads more of these so stay tuned! Here in the UK, you can purchase the full range online at BeautyByZara, link >> http://www.beautybyzara.com/cantu/

Some new and exciting products in the pipeline are

Extra hold edge stay gel

Comeback curl

Wave whip curling mousse

PhotoGrid_1435600856544

I think these or some have been released in the US already but definitely not in the UK at the moment otherwise if you spot it let me know. Also let me know of any videos you find useful and I will update the post accordingly.

Until next time

MAY MONTHLY PRODUCTS

20150524_215441

Hi everyone!

I wanted to do a post quickly about the products I have purchased and been using this month. It looks like a lot of products but I only bought a handful, the others I got from the events I have been to – these are mostly the sample size products. Most of the makeup I was given too. I will leave links if I have done a review on it or quickly do a mini review if I have used it.

Let’s get started. First I should confess I am a product junkie, so the amount of products should not come as a shock. Personally I don’t think it’s a lot. (Lol). I am going to try and do this top to bottom (lol) and put prices where I remember them

Ultimate organics extra virgin olive oil body whip- top green tub. I love this product! I was drawn to it because of the texture and consistency of it. It’s not runny as a lotion but it’s not ‘hard’ as a cream product either. It’s more like a yoghurt constituency. The smell is good too and the price is £2.19 (if I can remember oh wait the price tag is still on). My only con is it can be a bit greasy.

Silver top white tub (lol, guys you’re in for some amazing descriptions but as long as you get the picture I’m good)- this was part of a set given to me by fashion fair from the Curlvolution event! (Missed out on the event? Check out my event cover by clicking here >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-ti) It has a lavender scent is which lovely but a bit strong for me so of course my mother grabs it for herself. It is a moisturising body butter

Oil next to body butter on the right- again part of the gift set from fashion fair.  It’s the calming lavender moisturising oil. I really like how it feels on my skin. It leaves it silky soft and moisturised without been too oily. I use this on my legs and arms when they are out (nobody wants ashy legs) and also on my heels when am wearing sandals (most embarrassing thing ever- dry heels! Combat this my using an oil regularly on the area maybe 3 days before hand or every day when you’re applying your body moisturiser- ever notice how easy it is to forget that part? This oil works fine so does coconut oil. Shea butter is great too if you have that. Of course make sure you are using your scrubbing stones to get rid of dead skin)

Body shop vitamin E face spray- pink bottle. I LOVE THIS. Moisture boost and sets makeup! I was looking for a makeup setting spray that I could use for travelling so it had to be smaller than my fix plus from Mac (I love this too). I got this after speaking to the shop assistant who recommended the orange vitamin c spray (£10) which gives a dewy finish which was what I was after. However I did not like the scent of that and went ahead with this instead and I am so happy with my choice. I won’t say the finish is dewy but it does get rid of the powder effect (lol) and gives a subtle glow! Well worth the money. I use this alone too or on top of my vitamin E moisturiser (pictured next to the sachet next to the eco styler gel lmao). Grab from body shop for just £8.

Olive oil ecostyler gel- of course every naturalista needs this! I have tried the clear and argan oil versions so it only made sense to get this one! I have this thing and I’m sure a lot of people do, where I have to try all flavours if the product comes in different flavours (is It sad or weird?) I do this a lot with shower gels and chewing gums. I think the price was £2.69 or £2.99 from diva hair and beauty Croydon

Naturally simple haircare moisture cleanse shampoo (green sachet)

Beautiful textures texture manageability system- I got about 5 boxes of this at the Curlvolution event. It is supposed to help you straighten your hair and keep if straight for a while (even after shampooing) before going back to curly. I have already given 2 away and I think I will give the others as well- I am a heat free journey. I am not sure how it works but I read somewhere the ingredients is not the best. But if this is something you want to try out by all means go for it.

Video on TMS

Two motions products (Gold tubs) reviews can be found here > Pre-wash detangling butter >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-t7 .Deep conditioning masque >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-tc

Beautiful textures rapid repaid deep conditioner- I have used this before (years back) and recently fell in love with this line again so stay tuned for this review

Clay sachets- rhassoul clay (review here >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-us) and bentonite clay bought from SheaButter cottage.

Superdrug vitamin E micellar cleansing water (next to clay sachets) – I LOVE THIS. GO BUY NOW lol. Ok so how I got this this. Wendy Williams (how you doing) spoke highly about the simple’s version (skincare brand) and how effective it was taking off ALL her makeup. I was like whattt? You’re on T.V of course it’s a lot more makeup and it was THAT effective? Hm! *walks into Superdrug picks it up* but I’m like let me try a cheaper version in case it does not work. The simple version is not expensive, about £5 but I would have been pissed to spend that on a product and not work. Luckily the Superdrug brand products were on offer- buy one get one ½ price, so I decided to go with that. I bought it on a day I had makeup on so of course I couldn’t wait to get home and try this. It also claims to take of mascara! Hmm! Did it work? YESSSSS. I swear! One cotton pad is enough to take off your mascara! If you know me you know I like to use two to three different mascaras (lol) to get max length and volume. One pad is enough! I use one pad for each eye then use about 3 more for my face! After that I used a baby wipe to double check if all my makeup is gone and yep! Wipe was as clean as I first removed it. Lol. Next day no panda eyes! In short I am repurchasing lol and can’t wait to try other brands! Oh don’t use it to wipe your lips- it tastes horrid

L’Oréal Miss manga mascara- £8.99. It’s okay. It was really hyped up on YouTube but its ok. I have a better mascara from Superdrug for £3 that works wonders! Yes I need to re purchase and will include it in June’s products.

Video on Miss Manga mascara

You be-natural sachet (on top)

Palmer’s shea formula sachets- I didn’t know they had a natural hair care line. I got the moisture shampoo and conditioner and the curls whipped cream.

Fashion fair lipsticks, eye quad and pink blush (All dark brown packaging) given to me at Curlvolution

Phew, coming to the last few, right quickly now

Curls unleashed sample pack in the left corner- contains set it off curl boosting jelly, curl defining crème and moisturizing conditioner

Maybelline’s big lash mascara- oldie but goodie

And finally ApHogee provitamin spray leave in conditioner- I like this. It smells ok and leaves my hair refreshed.

That’s it folks! The end of all the products I bought and used in May. I know it’s June but I have a great excuse- I went traveling and you’re in for a travel update soon! Yay! Leave any comments on any products you have tried or wanting to try- hashtag #sarahfynn #productjunkie! I guess my favourites would be the micellar cleansing water and the Miss Manga mascara.

Until next time,

Love Sarah

NATURAL HAIR WEEK 2015- LONDON EVENT COVER

DSCF0020

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing great. Remember when I told u I had a bunch of things for you? Well this is the first of many!! I was sent tickets to the natural hair week show 2015 London by the lovely team at NaturalHairweek and I am here to give you the low down of what happened! Stay tuned. Lots of pictures by the way and some YouTube videos! (Channel- Sarahfynn, I am just getting started on YouTube, I know I’m late lol. I always had the channel but never used it, so please support and subscribe. It’s freeJ). Let’s get right to it!

So the show took place in 4 cities: Manchester, Nottingham, and Birmingham with the finale in London on the 9th of May at the London Marriott Hotel (excellent location and venue I should say!). The day was jam packed with workshops, panels, product demonstrations and free hair styling. Also if you’re a product junkie like me (#productjunkie), then you would be spoilt for choice with all the different vendors (just to name a few: Motions, Cantu, Quanace, Grassfields etc) and deals that were there! From  3for£10 on the monoi ORS range to 5for £20 on CANTU line (you should have seen the queues for this stall!), I literally could not make up my mind! Had to stand there and take it all in lool then side bar with myself for 10 minutes as to what I want to buy (hey sometimes you need expert opinion), in the end I went with 4for £10 on the motions natural line, I didn’t know they were in the natural hair game so decided to go with that. Plus they had a product which was every interesting to me. Here’s what I got:

IMG_20150510_140656

Hydrate my curls hair pudding

2x pre wash detangling butter- now this was what caught my attention. First because it’s a butter and second because I haven’t tried any products specifically for pre washing and detangling, there could be some but I haven’t come across it. And I got 2 because to detangle my 4c hair, I would need a lot. QUICK UPDATE- I have now used this product and I LOVE the smell. Its works well with my hair and left it really soft. Only con I have would be the size, by the way companies should really make bigger conditioners/styling products and smaller shampoos lol. Anyway, I am so glad I got two because honey gurl, I finished one tub! (1 tub is 239ml?!-reallly?)

Deep conditioning masque- UPDATE I have used this product and it left my hair butter soft! In depth review coming soon.

Of course, you don’t even need to ask. Reviews will be done in time lol. I also got a curls unleashed sample pack which I am very happy about because I have always wanted to try that line but just couldn’t (you know when a product excites you and you just wanna buy it? Not this line. When ORS first unleashed it lol I was like greeeaaattttt, then I was like greaaaat now am like great lol. So this sample pack of the products I actually wanted to try, may help me decide if I want it or not.

20150511_100804

I didn’t get many samples today probably because there were a lot of offers going on and product demos so samples weren’t really given out or maybe I didn’t ask nicely lol. (I did btw).

So the first workshop which I really enjoyed started with a background of the founders and some product owners telling us about their stuff. Did you know drinking cold water is bad for the liver and kidneys (apparently what I heard) but what I want to really talk about is this man named Kevin (kpthetextureman) and what he is doing lol.

His talk was probably the most informative of them all and the fact that he did a quick question and answer from the crowd put the cherry on the cake for me( you can  check my Instagram for a quick snippet @sarahfynn or YouTube for a longer video). He did product demos on stage as well and you could tell the man is really passionate about what he does. After this his stand was jam packed with a LOT of people just wanting to ask questions including myself lol. Water will make your hair dry?! (What he said) I need a bit more research on that tbh but his explanation was something like this, paraphrased of course:

The hair will not want to let go of the water because it would think its moisture and so etcccc lol

His advice was pretty decent. My question to him was ‘ how can I get my twists out to be defined? Because they never seem to work?’ Answer: let’s type your hair first. You have 4c hair, you want to do bigger twists (at thing point I asked but will I get definition?) And use something with a good hold that will add moisture. Smaller twists will not work on your hair because it will just frizz up and look like an afro. He then went ahead and showed me what size of sections should be and recommended products for me and used it on my hair. Good stuffs! (All in an American accent of course which was probably why I stood there for ages hearing him talk because I am obsessed with the accent lol). What I really liked about him was he did product demos on everyone that asked him a question and hair typed everyone too. No lye (see what I did there). His talking would tell you he was really passionate about what he does and I quote ‘look at me I don’t have any hair (takes hat off) so everything I have learnt about natural hair I have learnt listening to you’ check out my  video on YouTube for more info also follow him on Instagram, he’s tagged on my page.

After that it was pretty much me going to the stalls, learning about products and talking to people. What I really did was listen to how owners were interacting with their customers- this is what I spent most of my time doing tbh. I did get a few snippets of some of the conversations if anyone is interested. Check my YouTube. In general, most of the interacted well with their customers, explaining their product and its ingredients and offering demos (obvly this is a good sales technique but it also helps to have your questions answered PROPERLY).

I went to another workshop about alopecia- this is real guys. It hurts me to see women/girls with it and still wearing tight braids/styles etc. I am suffered my traction alopecia myself when I was younger and my hair is still recovering. Trust me I hardly do braids now and if I do they ARE NOT BRADING MY EDGES, no matter what they tell me – it won’t look like, am I sure? (Honestly I think some of these braiders/hairstylers should be educated in areas like these. Just because you’re talented or can do some hair doesn’t necessarily mean you should be doing it). When I wear my wigs- I never braid my edges, anyway I digress. I didn’t take and pictures because it was in a small room and I arrived in the middle of the workshop so I thought it would be quite rude to just start taking pictures.

I had fun on Saturday and overall it was a good experience. It was great to see everyone there and how many mainstream brands now carry products for natural hair. If you went to the London show or any of the other ones let me know how it went for you! Thank you NaturalHairWeek for the show and I look forward to it next year! Please do check my YouTube for more videos on the show!

MAC LIPSTICK COLLECTION AND SWATCHES. WOC

READY FOR ACTION!
READY FOR ACTION!

Hey guys, happy new month! (Can you believe 2015 is just 4 months away?!) Anyway hope everyone is doing well and preparing for back to school. I hope all your summer plans were successful and was a nice welcomed break!

So today’s post is something a bit different. It’s a collection with lip swatches of my mac lipsticks! I hope it helps someone trying to find suitable shades for their skin. ( I also made a video you guys for YouTube, bear with me whilst I laugh at myself and edit it hopefully I can edit this post later to include it)

But I decided to do this because there isn’t many lip swatches on YouTube for WOC especially. And sometimes the swatches on the hand do not do the colour justice. Also I found that most people combine the lipsticks with lip liners/other lipsticks whereby interrupting the true colour of the lipsticks, so with my swatches no other colours used! Just lipstick and lips LOL. Since I am terrible at describing these colours, I got the ‘official’ description from the mac website for you! Also I have linked a few videos of some lovely ladies on YouTube whose lip swatches helped me pick some of my colours. Check them out they are very useful.

If you are interested in the acrylic lipstick holder ( I’m sure by  now everyone has heard of them) I got mine from eBay for about 2 pounds I think but I just found really good ones and bigger too on amazon.   click on the picture. it will take you straight there. They are perfect for people who like to display their makeup.

Ok guys this post may be a long one. Sit back and relax. And whilst you are here check out my eBay store. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/slimtings1?_trksid=p2047675.l2559)
