The Intern Diaries: Day 9

Dear Diary

Today was manic! It was really busy at work, I kind of understand why it takes a company/business a while to reply or call back a customer, sometimes. There’s a bunch of things to do and different things needing you attention sometimes things can get forgotten.

Anyway, you will never guess what brand is coming out with a hair care line for natural hair! Can’t say so now but it will be exiting once it comes out! See part of the reason why I love this job is getting to know products even before they come out in stores.

Tomorrow is the big one: my review! I welcome any positive or negative feedback I will get so I can work on it for the future. I will make sure to use my waterproof mascara since am such a big baby and cry easily lool.

So yesterday, I did a post on a conservation I overheard between a hairdresser and another man. Check it out by clicking here >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-LV  . Anyway it was just debunking some myths about natural hair. So today we were talking about it and as it turns out they know the hairdresser. They explained to me that he says most of his natural hair clients are coming back and relaxing/texlaxing their hair because they are not quite getting their hair how they like it: in terms of the ‘perfect curl’ or making their hair soft etc. they find they get frustrated and give up hence they go back to relaxing. And it’s expensive because they spend a lot of money searching for products that work for their hair. This got me thinking as usual on the way home.. Watch this space!

I’m really looking forward to tomorrow and of course I will report back to you what happens but for now I am off to eat and sleep!

Fingers crossed

Love Sarah

P.S- I made that salon appointment! As part of my salon series I will be visiting natural hair salons and sharing my experience with you

I was able to get some new products to review: check my Instagram for the latest products and what to watch out for

I ordered some nail decorations, why it isn’t here yet lol! I can’t wait to do my nails ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Be hopeful, tomorrow is a new start! xx

The Intern Diaries: Day 8

Dear Diary

Count down to the end! It’s just 2 days to go till the end of my internship. I really REALLY have enjoyed working there and I wish I could say there forever and ever lol.

Today was good. We are working on the Dec/Jan issue so we are getting all the Christmassy looks/gifts for you. I can’t wait to see all the pages I worked on in full colour lol.

Anyway I been thinking, blogging can be expensive you know. There’s so many things I wish I could buy for my blog and to review but you see the way my bank account is set up hahaha. Plus I have run out of space for my products

Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow, off to dream land

Love

Sarah

P.S- I need to make that salon appointment ASAP, I have been putting it off for the last 2 weeks! I also need to get that invite for the event next week!

The Intern Diaries: Day 7

Dear Diary

Today was busy! Calling, writing, editing, more calls etc. I swear people are hard to get hold off lool. And the weather is coolllldd boy! Winter is finally here, I think we skipped fall. I am probably been dramatic as I get cold very easily.

I have been thinking about new segments for my blog, I hope to get those up and running soon. There’s not much to say, other than I am off to bed and see you tomorrow!

Shame it’s about to end!

Love

Sarah

P.S- I was able to go to the Post office today! Yay me.

Its time to put away my summer clothing. I was complaining it was too cold meanwhile I am rocking a crop top LOL

I have just seen this YouTuber who spooks Obama. He hilarious. You need to find him and watch him, I forgot his name though lool

Tell me why people do awkward crap lol. The other day, I’m out with my friend shopping and out of nowhere this dude (lol) comes up to me and says hi and offers his hand in the most awkward way ever. I literally looked at him and walked past LOL ( ok maybe that was funnier in my head)

Nyt nyt!

The Intern Diaries: Day 6

Dear Diary

It’s the start of the final week! Today was a great day.

I didn’t do a lot today, just a few bits from last week I had to catch up on.

I overheard a convo that got me thinking about what hairdressers themselves think of natural hair, anyway watch out for a long post on that.

Anyway preparing for tomorrow, heading off to bed now

Love

Sarah

P.S- I NEED to go to post office TOMORROW

The Intern Diaries: Day 5

Dear Diary

It’s the end of week 1!

Happy Friday

Today was another win for me! More work and no re works hmm! I am so pleased! I almost don’t want it to end and would LOVE to carry on working for them

I also secured a few contacts for my future collabs (yay)

Anyway its been a great week, and I am looking forward to next week! I am retiring to bed now

Love

Sarah

P.S- I finished Americanah, you have to pick it up! Its really good! Starting on this new book the tipping point by Maxwell Gladwell, I love his books!

I didn’t go to the post office today lol

Night night now

Hey guys, so I have an internship at a top UK magazine for the next 2 weeks and I will be documenting the journey in my intern diaries! I won’t reveal where/who I am working for (maybe I will at the end? Or if you can guess lol, a giveaway?). Just know it’s an editorial assistant internship and I am not making tea/coffee lol.

I hope this inspires someone who is thinking of a similar internship to get out there and apply. It can be quite daunting and there is always that ‘Will I just be making drinks and doing the photocopying’ cliché. But internships are great especially if you are thinking of a career change- which I am currently thinking of and want to test drive to see if it’s actually the right path for you plus you’re getting some experience and making contacts. And if you’re amazing enough and they can afford it- your dream job

The Intern Diaries: Day 4

Dear Diary

I have great news! So remember I said the stylist wasn’t picking up? Ok so I called him again this morning and he didn’t pick up, so I decided to carry on with other tasks I have been given. As I was doing them I got a call saying someone wanted to speak to me and I was like okkk, it was him! He was so nice and sweet then at the end he said ‘good luck and well done, you did well!’ aww like he actually called me! Lol

So after I did my write up and completed other stuff and I took it for feedback and braced my elf for it, as always notepad and pen in hand and she goes, well done Sarah, much better and guess what NO RE WORKS! And she was impressed at how quickly I did them too lool tbh I could go for lunch because the only cash point around the area was broken and none of the shops accepted card payments kmt! I was so hungry lool

I had two events after work: bare minerals Christmas party and Shea moisture. Guys Shea moisture is available in the UK! In boots! It’s a glorious day! I will update my Facebook soon with pictures. I just got home and I am so tired and hungry, still haven’t had proper food but I am so pleased with my progress at work! I just hope to keep it up!

Anyway guys I am off to dream land! I’m so tired

Love

Sarah Fynn

P.S- my food is calling me

Bye guys

The Intern Diaries: Day 1

Dear diary

Today was the first day of my highly anticipated internship! The dull weather and train delays could not stop my excitement as I got ready for work. Who coined the phrase smart causal? I mean why would I want to be causal about my smartness? Is it that my makeup is casual but outfit is smart or vice versa? (If you know me, you know I hate the term smart causal!)

Anyway, I learnt a lot today. Like good ideas don’t quite cut it- it has to fit the brand’s image/house style. I mean coming from a blogging background, where I have total freedom/control on what/how/when I post to the complete opposite was a bit of a shock ( maybe I am quite naïve?) how to get specific answers for your interview questions, how many times did I re draft that list? Yes 3 times (maybe that online journalism course will come in handy?) etc. No free advertising, not even by mistake (Wait what?)

I got some products for a test run. Looking forward to using them! A review will be on my blog after it has been posted on the mag’s website/blog.

But day 1 was good. Looking forward to day 2. Now I know what my day will be like more or less.

Love Sarah

P.S- you guys need to help with my outfits and I need to buy that book on creative writing/thinking. What is an SEO? Either way, blogging has been my 10,000 hours so to say
