The colder season means it’s time for chunky knits, hot chocolates and boots. It’s also time to update your hair regime for the fall/winter season. Natural hair needs more moisture and protection in the winter than those warmer months. Remember your wash and goes and cute twist outs? It’s time to say good bye to those and opt for protective styling.
With the weather dryer than usual, your hair will be affected by the elements: rain, wind and snow (not yet but hopefully we get a white Christmas!) the trick to maintaining healthy hair during this time is really simple: moisture, moisture, moisture and condition, condition and condition and throw in protective styling too. This simple guide will give advice/info on how to carry your hair ( and head) through the season.
Wash day
Pre- poo– I must confess when I am in a hurry, I completely miss this step and go straight for shampooing. In the colder seasons, you want to make sure you incorporate this into your wash regime every wash day! Hot oil treatments are the one for the season. This will help shed hair slip out easily and also provide extra moisture if you have to shampoo. Try all time favs like olive oil, coconut oil or castor oil. Of course feel free to mix and match for your perfect concoction
Co-wash – It’s to swap your shampoos for co washes (like you haven’t done so already). Creamier co-washes will ensure your hair is cleansed without stripping your hair of moisture. Try Cantu conditioning co wash, review can be seen here >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-D2
Deep condition- I can not stress this enough. Deep condition every wash day is also a must for this season. For extra benefits, use a heat cap, steamer or warm towel to help the conditioner penetrate the shaft more. Reconstructors are ‘light’ protein treatments that will help repair any damages to your hair. Try Curl Harmony Intensive treatment
Finally, do not skip on your leave in conditioners (I recommend Cantu leave in, Giovanni direct leave in, heavy butters and oils to seal all that moisture in!
Protective styling
Trimming – Since many of us opt for protection styles like wigs and braids, it’s now the perfect time to get a trim. This is get rid of any split ends and ensure your hair is healthy. If you got a bit scissor happy or your stylist did, don’t worry as it will be hidden in your protective styles anyway. When wearing a protective style, remember to keep your scalp healthy by using scalp oils. My fav combo at the moment is castor oil, olive oil, rosemary and spearmint oils. This will ensure your scalp is not dry which in turn will prevent itchy scalp (Weave pat anyone?).
That’s all folks! What are your tips for maintaining your tresses in the colder seasons? Share them below! Let us know what products you’re using/loving, I am always on the hunt for new products to try ( with that been said, I will have a bunch of reviews up shortly as I have acquired a lot of new products recently, yay!)

Hey family, many of you having been asking about the full review on the Curl Harmony products I received! Curl Harmony is a UK based natural hair company providing natural hair products with the finest ingredients. Check out all the previous posts below:
I now have a full review written which is currently up on the British Curlies website! I told you guys I am part of their Bloggers association now right? Anyway to check out the post, link the link below:
My final verdict – I love these products esp the deep conditioner and will recommend that to my type 4 girls. If you would like to visit their website for more info or to make a purchase, please click Curl Harmony image right below the insta bar and it will take you directly to the website!
We have another product collection! We are talking about Motions for natural textures product collection! Yes Motions have a collection for natural hair now and I am here as always to give you the full product collection, plus reviews plus where to purchase in the UK. Let’s get to it
The full collection:
Straight Finish cleanser
Moisturising cleanser
Straight finish leave in conditioner
Smoothing conditioner
Deep conditioning mask
Straight finish sealer
Define my curls creme
Hydrate my curls pudding
Radiating hair gloss
I think their website needs updating, because they also have a pre wash detangling butter that’s not showing up on their website. I think this product is quite new. I have used 3 products from this line: the pre wash detangling butter, the deep conditioning mask and the hydrate my curls pudding. I have reviews for them, check them out below
The hydrate my curls pudding I have used it and it worked well to define my braid out. So now let’s talk reviews, is it worth it?
From my experience with their products, I say they are good however the size is a big let-down. The prewash detangling butters only lasted me two washes, one for each so if you did a cost analysis lol, it would work out cheaper to get a regular conditioner which will be bigger and last longer anyway. The same goes for the deep conditioning mask.
That’s all for the motions natural textures line. Let me know if you use any of these products and how they are working out for you! Here in the UK you can get the some of the products from amazon or paks > http://www.pakcosmetics.com/brand/motions/motions I have also seen they sell this in some BSS, ACE definitely has it. For more info on this line, please visit their website > http://www.motionshair.com/

Hey loves, how’s everyone doing? So this post will be the 1st impressions on some Curl Harmony products I received last week. I feel as though this post is late lol forgive me.
So I featured Curl Harmony in my product collection series, you can view the post the clicking this link >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-Bn What’s great about this? Its UK based!
So Nadine the lovely owner sent me the intensive deep conditioning treatment, the buttercream and the curl reviver
I have now used all of them and here’s my 1st thoughts on them
Intensive conditioning treatment. I love the super thick consistency of this! The thick consistency is perfect for my type 4 c hair. I applied it and left for about 20 minutes then an extra 10 mins with heat. Results? Super soft and moisturised hair. My curls came out a little more defined! I then used the buttercream to seal in my leave in conditioner and used the curl reviver for a twist out. That buttercream is good! A little goes a long way. I didn’t have to use my hair lotion for about 3 days because of the buttercream! It’s great for sealing in moisture I highly recommend it. You can actually use it as a hot oil treatment too. I haven’t tried this but next wash day I will and let you know how it performs. The smell reminds me of something else but I can’t remember what that thing is lol. I have been thinking about that for a while trying to figure it out.
Curl reviver was great in defining my twists. This would be the second time a product has been great in giving me definition in my twists. Loveeee. No flakes! No flakes I repeat no flakes lol! I also like the smell of this one.
I applied my Cantu leave in, buttercream then curl reviver. This is a perfect combo!
Next wash day I will be using the buttercream as a hot oil treatment then follow up with the conditioner.
That’s all folks my first impressions on these Curl harmony products. If you want to check them out here’s a link for u, click the image below,

Hey guys, welcome back to another product collection. As the title says, this post will be on the new design essentials coconut and monoi collection. As always, I will be providing you with all the products in the collection, reviews and finish with where it can be purchased in the UK. So if you want to know about this range keep on reading 🙂
So the coconut and monoi deep moisture range was created for dry, dull and very thirsty hair. It is infused with coconut and monoi oils (of course) among other nourishing ingredients e.g. sunflower and vitamin E and promises to deliver intense hydration to instantly transform dry, thirsty hair into soft, shiny, revitalized curls. It is a relatively small collection, 5 products in total but with great ingredients. I haven’t used this brand before or these products so I will get you some YouTube reviews at the end.
The full collection is as follows
Coconut & Monoi deep moisture milk crème with argan oil and sunflower
Coconut & Monoi hair coconut water curl refresher with sunflower, milk protein and chamomile
Coconut & monoi deep moisture milk soufflé with sunflower and shea
Coconut & monoi deep moisture oil treatment with argan oil and sunflower
Coconut & monoi intense shine oil mist with sunflower and vitamin E
So I realised it doesn’t include a shampoo or a leave in conditioner. Let’s get into reviews now, I haven’t used it yet so off to YouTube to get some videos for you
That’s all folks, I hope you enjoyed this product collection. Let me know if you already have these products and how they have been working out for you. I would love to hear from my readers! Off I go in search of more product collections.
As promised this is the second post on the dark and lovely au naturale hair products. The first post on their moisture L.O.C. collection can be viewed here>> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-AU .Their anti-shrinkage line promises to reduce shrinkage and elongate your curls. I mean if you have type 4 hair especially you know about shrinkage #shrinkageisreal. Some of us, aka me lol wants to avoid shrinkage as much as possible. I mean I don’t mind a little bit of shrinkage but not full blown shrinkage if you know what I mean. My hair is VERY prone to tangles and breakage when it shrinks and I really don’t have the time to detangling etc.
Anyway this collection has a lot of products, mostly styling products so let’s get into it
Beyond gentle and sulfate free wash
Knout out conditioner
Cleansing conditioner
Easy twist gel and butter
Coil moisturizing soufflé
No crunch nourishing pomade
Knot out conditioner
Slick slip leave in conditioner
10 in 1 styles gelee
Hydrating soak shampoo
Sheen sealing nectar
Curl defining crème glaze
So yes, it’s definitely a big one, unfortunately I can’t show all the pictures lol, because I am actually running out of space on my WordPress storage lool. Some of the products can be purchased from British Curlies>> http://shop.britishcurlies.co.uk/dark-and-lovely-au-naturale/
Time for some reviews
What’s the verdict? Let me know what you guys think. Are you using this line, if so what is your experience so far? So the 3rd and final collection is their anti-breakage collection which will be coming soon.
Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing ok so far. How is your summer going? Good I hope.
So as promised, there is the final full review for the NAAT cream Garlic and Cupuacu I purchased from the WITJ2015 event ( if you missed the event, you can read my event cover by clicking this link >> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-wx ). Ok so let’s get started!
Before I get into details, here’s what nuNaat have to say about the product:
NAAT Cream Garlic & Cupuacu is ideal for brittle hair. Specially formulated to strengthen and repair cuticles, leaving hair softer, healthier and completely revitalized. The perfect treatment for split ends.
BENEFITS
Deep moisturizing in 5 minutes or less
Suitable for daily use, in place of conditioner
One for every hair need
Can be combined to create a customized formula for your hair type
So does it live up to it?
YES. From the first use, I noticed a lot less shedding and my hair was left softer. I like that it doesn’t have any garlic or harsh smell. What I love the most though? Is the size, a full 1kg worth of goodness which provides 50+ applications (description on tub)! I think I got a bit carried away and I have now fully realised how much I saturate (over) my hair with conditioner when it comes to conditioning! I have used it four times now, and I think I have a bit more left for another 3 or 4 applications! (Tut tut, Smh Sarah).
For a blast of protein, I mixed one egg with the Naat cream and left on for about 30 minutes and my hair was strengthened with less shedding too. I’m not sure about the split ends as I don’t have any (well that’s what I think lol) and I haven’t noticed any difference in the state of my ends whilst using this product.
Verdict
It’s definitely worth it! We naturals are notoriously known to use more conditioner that anything else so I am happy that this comes in a bigger size! I think I am set for the rest of the year for conditioner, between the others I already had and these NAAT creams (I got 3 for £10 pounds from the event!), I am definitely good.
It also has good slip for finger detangling should you wish to multi use this product or condition before you cleanse.
I am not sure where you can purchase this yet in the UK (sorry guys) and I can’t seem to find it in on Amazon too. Anyway if you happen to come across it or you have been wondering about it then give it a go, you won’t regret it!
Check out the other creams in the range, watch the video below for a full explanation on them
That’s all folks, now moving onto the next NAAT cream and of course I will report back to you as usual. Until next time
