Nyx Cosmetics HD Studio Photogenic Concealer Review

Ever since Nyx Cosmetics officially launched in the UK, their popularity here has been growing from strength to strength. With their wide variety of products, shades, affordable prices and ease of access, it’s easy to see why.

Nyx HD Studio Photogenic Concealer is one of their popular concealers, it comes in 17 shades and it’s only £6! It was actually the very first Nyx product I got. In this post, I will bring you a full review of this concealer. I have had this for a long time so I know exactly how it works. It is described as a lightweight concealer offering medium to full coverage without looking cakey or obvious.

This is a good drugstore concealer. It feels creamy on the skin and goes on smoothly. The wand applicator makes it easy to use. The concealer does offer medium coverage and it’s easily buildable. It also blends easily. It wears very well during the day and doesn’t crease easily and quickly.

The only con I have about the HD concealer is the fact that it oxidises. The shade I have, Nutmeg would have been a good shade if it didn’t oxidise.  Nutmeg has a yellow/golden undertone which I have so I prefer in my complexion products. They have added more shades and I am not sure if they have changed the formula. I got this concealer over 4 years ago and it oxidised from first use but I don’t know if any of them oxidise now. I have seen a new shade I would like but I would need to test it out first.

Nyx Cosmetics HD Studio Photogenic Concealer Review

I would recommend this concealer and I would say go a shade up if it still oxidises. It blends well and builds to full coverage without looking cakey. It wears well during the day and best of all its only £6! I have also given you some of my shade references in other concealers and to compare undertones.

I cant wait to try the new Cant Stop Wont stop concealer! I didn’t pick up the foundation because apparently its very matte and I am not the biggest fan of matte foundations.

Nyx HD Studio Photogenic Concealer is £6 and available from Boots*

Collective Haul: Skincare & Makeup

I have been MIA for a while and what better way for a comeback than a Collective Haul ft Skincare & Makeup?!  I have been into skincare lately and I have always been into skincare but this time, it’s a whole new level. Since the addition of acid toners in my routine plus the mini heatwave we experienced this summer, I have stepped up my skincare game! The drugstore has some pretty good, effective and affordable skincare products so I have been trying my hands on some new goodies

First Aid Beauty, for the longest time I wanted to get something from this brand, in particular the two items I got: the Facial Radiance Pads and the Vitamin Hydrating Mist, FeelUnique had a sale on these and I had my £3.95 voucher, add to cart!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray & Nyx Dewy Mist– its official, makeup setting sprays are my weakness! This one from Mario Badescu has been on my hit list for a while, I just thought it was more expensive than its actual price, but never looked into it until recently. Nyx Dewy Mist – I must admit, it was a hype purchase because I found out Nyx has a counter in my local Boots and I have a discount card for Boots!

Ben Nye Topaz & Max Blot Powder– I had run out of my pressed powder (Sleek) and wanted something different. I wanted to try the MSF powders from Mac but I wanted something with next to nothing colour. This BLOT powder from Mac is amazing! It has 2% pigment which is next to nothing so it doesn’t add to your foundation – it’s perfect if you don’t like full coverage like myself. It does amazingly well at taking away oil! Ben Nye Topaz has been raved about for a while but I never took any interest in it. My girl from work convinced me, gave me sample then her me her almost new powder because it didn’t suit her well actually she preferred the Sacha Buttercup and the rest is history………………..

Water Sprays- acid toners means neutralisation afterwards and even though my acid toners are not quite strong to require this step I love the feeling of misting my face with fancy water in a can. Caudalie Grape Water & La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water are re purchases. I decided to try the Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water too

ColourPop- they finally have international shipping which may not be worth it because you actually have to pay tax. Anyway I got two items from the KaePop collections and two of the satin lips which I actually don’t like

Milani Baked Blushes– even though I wanted my first item from Milani to be their Liquid Lipsticks, I went for the baked blushes. Very shimmery but still nice on

Shea Moisture Mud Mask– ever since I heard of their skincare collection, I have been wanting to dip my hands in them. Living in the UK means I miss out of a lot of goodies but thanks to MyLuxeBeauty, you can get this and other hard to get products here

Mielle Organics Mint Oil– my second bottle of this stuff. I love everything about this and it actually works! Finally, eye care samples I got from FeelUnique and the Naturally Brightening eye cream from Superdrug.

I have been loving the Clearly Youth Serum from Superdrug, second purchase and I really love it! Also picked up the Botanics night cream from Boots

That’s all folks! I can’t wait to bring you reviews on these products! Make sure you follow me on Instagram for all the latest products. I am finally on Snap Chat – itssarahfynn

Best & Worst Products 2015: Beauty

2015 is quickly coming to an end! Eek! I thought it would be fun to review some of my best and worst products of 2015! After all, it’s been the best blogging year to date and I tried lots of new products and brands. Some of the categories are funny lol but they are so relatable, I mean how many of us have fallen for the hype of a product? Exactly lol!

This will be in two parts so the post is short and sweet (After all, you have to read your outfits ready for NYE).

Best Product-  Body Shop Vitamin E Face Mist and MakeUp Forever Ultra HD Foundation!

Not only do these two work perfectly together but the foundation is so light on the light it’s almost as if you are wearing no makeup at all!

Worst Product- Simple Revitalising Eye Roll on

I love the Simple Brand but this eye roll on did nothing for me! Its supposed to reduce bags, dark circles etc and I suffer from them quite badly and it made no difference at all.

I fell for the hype and it was worth it- L.A Girl Pro Concealer and Corrector

I try to stay away from buying hyped up products but I was looking for a cheap and cheerful concealer and decided to give this ago! Yh its totally worth it! I even have a back up on deck smh

I fell for the hype but it was okish- L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara

To me this wasn’t worth the hype. I do not like the flexible wand at all and I find it picks up way too much product and makes my lashes look clumpy. It’s an ok mascara but I don’t get the hype about it

Best new brand I tried- Bagsy Beauty

I love everything about this brand, its British and they have really cute packaging. The colours are really pigmented too.

Brand I have been stalking for a while and finally got something from it- NYX Cosmetics

Seriously, I have known about NYX for a while but their website is always, ALWAYS out of stock! I found out you can get some of their products on Boots and went straight for the kill. Anyway, I am prepping myself to get some more lol

Other favourite brands that didn’t make the list are

What have you guys been loving this 2015? Which products have you regretted buying? Remember you can find most of the reviews for these products on here, look through my product index for links

Happy New Year people! New Year new blessing and hopefully new products to try!

Watch out for part 2- for the best and worst hair products of 2015!
