Beauty Blvd Mattitude Lip Liquid Review and Swatches

Beauty Blvd Mattitude Lip Liquid Review and Swatches

Beauty Blvd, the brand behind insta worth Glitter Lips launched their brand new Mattitude Lip  Liquids last month and I was instantly drawn to them! The new Mattitude Lip Liquids come in 12 bold shades, with a cream to matte formula and vivid pigments.

Beauty Blvd also describes their new lip liquids as long lasting, non-drying and non-sticky that glides on for a smooth finish. I received 3 shades for review: Remedy (Nude), Damn Fine (Red) and Secret Passage (Hot Pink).

Before I get into my review, here are swatches of the shades I received

Beauty Blvd Mattitude Lip Liquid Review and Swatches

Review

I love the packaging! It’s not the usual lipstick box you get, the boxes have the shape of lips with the corresponding colour on it. I did think that the colours on the boxes are slightly darker than the actual colour of the lipstick.

The lipsticks come in the standard tube with a doe foot wand which makes it easier to line the lips and apply. I find the two bolder colours: Damn Fine and Secret Passage are more pigmented than Remedy which is nude. The colours look great on my skin tone. Remedy is quite a light nude so I have to pair with a brown lip liner, the other two shades I can get away with fine.

The lip lipsticks go on smooth, feel comfortable and dry fairly quickly. What I really like about the new Mattitude lip Liquids is that they are not extremely drying and they are not sticky. Longevity wise, they hold well during the day and after drinking but I find after eating I have to reapply. The only thing I don’t like about them is the scent but this doesn’t linger.

Verdict

The new Mattitude Lip Liquids are really nice and come in a range of bold colours. I have had these for a while now and even took them on set with me for a photo shoot. If you want matte liquid lipsticks that are not extremely drying these are for you.  I love the shade names too and the packaging (I held onto mine for the longest).

The New Mattitudes are £9.50 available at BeautyBlvd.com

Tips for wearing the new Mattitude lip liquids and other matte liquid lipsticks

Always make sure your lips are moisturised before application. I always put on Vaseline before I start my makeup and wipe it off when it’s time to apply lipstick

Exfoliate! Matte liquid lipsticks are unforgiving to the dead skin on the lips: they emphasise them! Not so much with the Beauty Blvd ones I realised but for the smoothest application and finish always make sure you have exfoliated your lips. Use a lip scrub, Vaseline with an old toothbrush or I simply just rub my fingers in circular motions all over.

Ultimate Drugstore Makeup Kit

A full makeup look featuring 100% drugstore makeup? Yasss hunty! In this post, I am sharing my ultimate drugstore makeup kit featuring 100% drugstore brands! By sharing, I hope I give you some new products to try out and new brands to experiment with. These are products I personally use and love and if I have reviewed them here on the blog, I will leave a link for you to check out! let’s get into it.

My Ultimate Drugstore Makeup Kit

Primer – I never do my makeup without this and I have loads! I am currently switching between a few but I super love the Makeup Revolution Face Primer which is only £4

Makeup Revolution Ultra Face Base Primer Review

Foundation- A good base from the drugstore? For dark skin? Some drugstore brands are killing it atm. I am currently loving the Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation for everyday wear. It feels lightweight and has the dewy fresh finish I love. I have the darkest shade Tuscany but what’s genius about this range is that they have Shade Adjusting drops you can use to lighten or darken your foundation for your perfect shade!

Colour Corrector- I use Orange colour correctors to cancel out any dark areas on my face. Hands down my fav and best one I have used so far is the LA Girl Orange Corrector

Concealer- A super cheap and very popular concealer. I bet you know what I am going to say. It’s the one and only LA Girl Pro Concealers! I have the shade Toast for everyday wear

Under eye setting powder- I used to love Sacha Buttercup Powder as an under eye setting powder until it turned on me. I use the Black Opal Deluxe Finishing Powder in Deep to set my concealer nowadays

Brows- I haven’t really mastered the art of filling in brows and I am so thankful I have thick brows. I always use a clear brow gel to brush them in place. At the moment I am using one from Collection

Face powder- I live for my MAC Blot Powder but on super casual days, I reach for my Milani Pressed Translucent powder which gets the job done too.

Highlighter- When it comes to highlighters, you know Makeup Revolution is killing it right now! I have loads of them but I tend to reach for the Rock on World Baked Bronzer the most. I have swatches of all the highlighters below in my Best Highlighters Pos

Blush– A good pigmented blush is hard to find in the drugstore but Sleek never goes wrong with these. I have 3 of their blush palettes and I reach for the Sugar palette the most

Contour- I’m only starting to learn how to contour so I decided to start from the drugstore. I have been using the Nyx Contour Palette in Dark

Setting spray- I’m a lover of setting sprays! I really like the BodyShop Vit C & E face mists, or the Makeup Revolution Setting Spray

Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Amazing Makeup Fixing Spray Review

Mascara- It has to be the Revlon Ultimate All in One Mascara. Lengthens and thickens!

Eyeliner- Barry M Kohl Pencil, very nice and pigmentated

Eyeshadow – I’m really an eyeshadow for special occasions kinda girl but if I am feeling fancy I will pull out the GOSH quad. I love the neutral colors and it doesn’t crease either

Lipstick- For lipstick, I chose the Lottie London Liquid Lipstick in Hey Bae, a super casual brown/nude color. I live for drugstore lipsticks and have quite a few.

SO that’s it folks, my Ultimate Drugstore Makeup Kit featuring all my fav drugstore makeup items. I linked reviews/posts I have on products so make sure you check those out for detailed info on them

Finally hit me up on insta with products you would like to see reviewed or to keep up to date with new products.  SarahFynn

NEW! ColourPop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipsticks

colourpopo ultra satin

The liquid lipstick game is still going strong! Almost every brand has at least a matte liquid lipstick line to their name! One of the most affordable and well known matte liquid lipstick brands, ColourPop is back with a new formulation in the game! Introducing their new Ultra Satin liquid lipsticks! Matte lips are bomb! They are long lasting and most are transfer proof but some of them are not the most comfortable things to wear! The drying formula can leave your lips looking dry and cracked and without the proper prep to wear these, the whole look goes downhill.. FAST

The ColourPop Ultra Satin lipsticks promise comfort and a satin finish. From all the videos I have watched (guys, I watched a lot!), they look super pigmented and people say they are super comfy too. Beware though, it is not promising transfer proof or long lasting results (compared to their ultra-matte formula) but it looks like they stain lips. They are 16 shades in total (my birthday is coming up just to let you know and I only want 4 shades Frick n Frack, Panda, Magic Wand and Echo Park cough cough ) and it seems the most popular shade is Dopey which is sold out.

Anyway, enough rambling, check out these swatch videos!

Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

Mac Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour

I must admit, I love liquid lipsticks! I don’t have as much as I would like (budget issues lol) but I have a few really good ones from brands I love. No surprise then when I found out about that Mac has joined the trend and released liquid lipsticks of their Retro Matte Collection. The colours are not the same as the lipstick colours (obviously), nooo, you get 15 new colours  to play with!

The shades are your everyday shades and will suit most skin tones. There are nudes, pinks, purples/berry and reds too. Depending your skin tone (WOC) you can either get away without a lip liner or have to put in some work especially with the nudes, they look super light. I’m not super excited about the colour range, they’re all standard colours we have in our collection BUT one stood out and that was Oh Lady, a deep wine. I don’t have a colour like that in my collection (honey even if I did, I really wanted to test out the formula lool)

Mac Retro Matte LipColour, Oh Lady

They are priced at £21 each (Not cheap) and are available on Mac online, I’m not sure if they are in stores. Online, you have to search for it on the site because it’s not under lipsticks, but because I love you guys I got you the link straight to them! << click to go straight!

Since I only got one shade, I found a video for you guys (Thanks babe! Lol) on swatches for all the colours! I can’t wait for it to come and test it out! ( I ordered it on the 28th and I am still waiting for a dispatch email, seriously Mac get it together lol, I ordered Sleek Makeup on the same day and I received those!)

Will you guys be trying this? Let me know!
