SHOOT THE COMPANY FOR HOUSE OF FRASER X CJAJ09

Hi guys, this a quick post to tell you guys about the work I did with CJAJ09 for SHOOT THE COMPANY on behalf of HOUSE OF FRASER. I will break it down for y’all soon.(lol). Before I get into that though, HAPPY NEW MONTH! Can you believe 2015 is just around the corner? This year has flown past honestly but I hope everyone has achieved their goals set for this year (you guys still remember your new year’s resolutions right? Haha) if you haven’t, you have 61 days left, get going! (motivational mode deactivated!)

So, my good friend over at CJAJ09 ( I say that like CJAJ09  is a place, like a physical place you could go to and visit, so let me try again) my good friend, Taylor, the owner of CJAJ09 (much better right?) had the opportunity to be included as one of the designers chosen to do a profile on for HOUSE OF FRASER! (AMAZING RIGHT?). SHOOT THE COMPANY IS the production company who were filming the whole thing. (Broken down into pieces and swept them up. Brokenness level? 100 LOL). It was a short video to be done on her life and how that influenced her brand (contact details of CJAJ09 will be provided at the end).  And she chose me ( as the almost retired face of CJAJ09) to be included in the video and photo shoot at the end. So this will be a quick post on how the day went.

So the day started at church (typical Sunday life), where I met the lovely people form SHOOT THE COMPANY. They filmed the service and some activities she did as well ( I hope they got me dancing during praise time!) from there we went to Sunday brunch at Matthew’s yard( PURPLE VELVET CAKE! I will get to that soon.)  And did some more filming, my girl was treated like royalty all day, her makeup was been topped up and they make sure she was well taken care of. They did some more filming whilst at brunch and filmed some really cool sex and the city walking inspired scenes which I loved!( I wished I wore my heels though!) you guys know by now how rubbish I am at description, so these are pictures of what I want to say. (your-typical-girls-looking-fly-walking-and-fake-talking-down-the-street)

THIS IS THE INSPIRATION

After brunch, Tom ( from SHOOT THE COMPANY)  was kind enough to drive us to her house where she was interviewed about her brand and lifestyle. Finally we did a photo shoot for her upcoming look book. I think they filmed the start of the shoot then it was a wrap for them! I tried to not take as many pictures as I didn’t want to spoil it for you guys when the video will be released online( YouTube and HOUSE OF FRASER WEBSITE) and in some stores nationwide.

So that’s all folks make sure you check back here as I will keep you updated with the project and let you know the launch date, it should be very soon though. As promised below is all the contact information for CJAJ09

MAC LIPSTICK COLLECTION AND SWATCHES. WOC

READY FOR ACTION!
READY FOR ACTION!

Hey guys, happy new month! (Can you believe 2015 is just 4 months away?!) Anyway hope everyone is doing well and preparing for back to school. I hope all your summer plans were successful and was a nice welcomed break!

So today’s post is something a bit different. It’s a collection with lip swatches of my mac lipsticks! I hope it helps someone trying to find suitable shades for their skin. ( I also made a video you guys for YouTube, bear with me whilst I laugh at myself and edit it hopefully I can edit this post later to include it)

But I decided to do this because there isn’t many lip swatches on YouTube for WOC especially. And sometimes the swatches on the hand do not do the colour justice. Also I found that most people combine the lipsticks with lip liners/other lipsticks whereby interrupting the true colour of the lipsticks, so with my swatches no other colours used! Just lipstick and lips LOL. Since I am terrible at describing these colours, I got the ‘official’ description from the mac website for you! Also I have linked a few videos of some lovely ladies on YouTube whose lip swatches helped me pick some of my colours. Check them out they are very useful.

If you are interested in the acrylic lipstick holder ( I’m sure by  now everyone has heard of them) I got mine from eBay for about 2 pounds I think but I just found really good ones and bigger too on amazon.   click on the picture. it will take you straight there. They are perfect for people who like to display their makeup.

Ok guys this post may be a long one. Sit back and relax. And whilst you are here check out my eBay store. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/slimtings1?_trksid=p2047675.l2559)

Cadiz: little town Great beaches

Located in the south of Spain. Cadiz is one of the oldest cities in Spain. Thanks to its location, it boasts of some of the most beautiful beaches I have been to.  Its all about weather and if youre lucky enough to catch the sun whilst here do not miss that opportunity to go to the Tk3 bar in El puerto de Santa Maria where you can get some really good cocktails famous within the town. Stroll along the beach which is right opposite the bar or sit by the fires and reminisce of all your travel adventure. This is where good company is needed. (Or if you are a solo traveler you will love the tranquility)
20140419_225534 20140418_152759 20140418_152820
Eat fried calamares and drink tinto de verano in another well known restaurant I  el puerto called Romerijo’s. Also try tortillita de camarones .Dont forget to visit los italianos in the center of cadiz to taste some good icecream to cool down in the sun. (Try the strawberry! )

Also try to visit Puerto sherry and have lunch by the beach in one of the resturants. I had lunch at an italian restaurant called blanca paloma.

The city of Cadiz is good for history. Dont miss the wall in the center and the castle. Visit the park Genovés opposite the university of Cadiz. Notice how most of the houses are white.

I think that as this was the last city and bad weather I didnt really get a sample of the place, however I do plan on going back there soon. Hopefully I can get more pictures and better ones too.

Granada: small town with rich muslim roots

20140417_163000

Make no mistake as you walk through Morroco I mean Granada,( see what I did there). Thinking youre in Morroco!  I was pleasantly surprised on how similar some patterns and parts of the town was to Morroco.  So it was no surprise when the main attract in Granada is the la Alhambra.

Granada was apparently the… wait you want the best features of the place not the history( thats Wikipedia’s job)

Stroll along the river outside the las Alhambra. Its a sort of hill with pebbled ground so wear sturdy shoes. Go into the Alhambra if you can.

Take a walk into tge center and enjoy more muslim influenced architecture.  When you get to the plaza de carmen there is a road that has a lot of restaurants. ( so bummed I didnt get a picture or the name of the place I ate at but I do have a picture of what I ate :))

My time here was very short. First i missed a day because the only tickets available from Valencia to Granada were overnight, therefore I only had one day there, however I was lucky enough to see the Paso de semana santa ( which I did not enjoy!)

BARCELONA- CITY BY THE SEA

20140412_205736_Richtone(HDR)

Spain’s second most famous city, located in the east in the Catalan autonomous community (it is the capital city of this community), there is a lot I can say about this beautiful city. From the famous Camp Nou for the football fans, historic buildings and architecture for the photographers and history fans to the amazing food for the foodies, it comes as no surprise that Barcelona is a popular destination for travellers and my starting point of my 11 days tour around Spain!

I was excited for Barcelona. It was only the 2nd time I had been out of Madrid but nevertheless I was looking forward to it. After months of planning and saving for my trip, I boarded the overnight train to Barcelona on the 10th of April, due to arrive there at 7 am next day!( if you are already in Spain and want to travel there, check out renfe.com, alternatively you can catch a plane there too) I was pleasantly surprised on how different Barcelona was from Madrid, building, culture, food and even language(they speak Spanish there too almost everyone can speak Spanish however the main language is supposed to be Cataluña). I wonder if that’s why they want independence and all.

These are my thoughts/suggestions for Barcelona

Don’t miss

The Sangrada Familia

Font màgica de Montjuïc/ Fuente mágica de Montjuic (Catalan/Spanish)

Park Guell

Barcelona port

Las Ramblas

Stay in

Low to medium budget –Pension Segre which is where I stayed. About 10 mins walk from the Drassasans train stop which is about 10-15 mins from the main train station.

Literally 5 mins walk to Las Ramblas and the Barcelona port

Have lunch in Las Ramblas. You are spoilt for choice on the number of restaurants you can choose from. Almost all offering the same meals but different deals so if you’re not too hungry have a good look around at the deals about. I ate at the San Remo. And if none of the restaurants tickles your fancy there is always those bars/tapas places on either sides on the roads you can have a pizza or tapas at. Drink Sangria or Tinto de Verano. Don’t miss the hotdogs or crepe by the port and remember to take a river cruise whilst there! You can also check out the shopping centre and visit the bar which gives you a view of the sea. Make sure you come out at night. With all the lights on the city really comes to live!

20140411_153406 20140411_151534

Visit the market, La Boqueria located just of the Las Ramblas. Fruit heaven! You will enjoy fruit salads or shakes for very cheap. Have a look around there are other things to discover!

You cannot miss the show at Fuente mágica de Montjuic! Try and get there for 7’Oclock when the show starts. Any time after that and it will be crowded and you may not get a place to sit.

Get your hiking shoes on and go to Park Guell it’s located on top of a sort of hill so it’s. Long walk up!

Sagrada Familia is worth a visit too!

20140412_135355 20140412_135351

I tried to visit as many things as possible been in Barcelona. When every time I’m in a city I try to walk as much as possible. So that’s exactly what I did. I only caught the bus or train when I was going really long distances or in the evening when I was so tired to walk back, but other than I walked everywhere and I discovered some cool stuff which may not be on the map!

Ahh what else can I say about Barcelona? Other than I will definitely visit there again and stay longer! But in 3 days 2 nights you can get a feel of  Barcelona and enjoy what it has to offer.  Next stop Valencia!

BACKPACKING ACROSS SPAIN!

spain use

Hey guys!  Happy Easter in advance! I hope everyone is fantastic wherever they are and have some fab plans coming up for Easter because I certainly do! Ok so here is Spain we have 11 days of for Easter, and since it’s the week leading to my birthday also and I LOVE to travel, what better way of spending that 1 week backpacking across Spain!

Yes guys, I will be going to Barcelona, Valencia, Granada, Cadiz, Seville (maybe) and finally back to Madrid! I am so excited and can’t wait to get started! I purchased my 40L backpack from Amazon (Mountain warehouse brand) and I am ready to goooo. The weather has been amazing so far and I am hoping it gets better. And by better I mean hotter! So my itinerary is as follows

10th-13th– Barcelona

13th– 15th– Valencia

15th– 17th Granada

17th-21st – Cadiz (and if there is time, a quick visit to Seville/Malaga as well as it’s only an hour to drive)

With only 11 days I tried to visit the main cities and hopefully in July (if I have money) go to the others.  It’s a lot of travel- overnight trains/coaches, but everyone knows the journey to your destination is half the experience!  And with my 21st birthday the day after I come back, it’s my birthday present to meeee! What I am going to try and do is make sure I buy a tshirt from every city and wear it to the next city I am visiting! (super!)

So I’m out guys. So obviously there is going to be a 5 part travel update on all these places including what to see, where to stay etc. so stay tuned!

So once again, have a happy Easter and see you soon!

Love Sarah

Everyday Inspiration- Regal Fro

Hey guys! So I’m back with another post in my everyday inspiration series! This time, the beautiful Regal Fro joins the many women on here sharing her inspirational story and advice for natural hair. So sit back and relax and get to know Regal Fro!

“Regardless of how you choose to wear your hair, remember you are a naturally beautiful woman.”- Regal Fro

regalfro31. Tell me about yourself- where you were born, your name, age what do you do?

I am a 34 year old, mental health advocate/inspirational speaker from Mississippi.

2. Where there a lot women with natural hair from your hometown/ where you were born?

I no longer reside in my hometown. However, I see women who are wearing their hair in its natural state daily.

3. Ok, with this in mind, did you find it any easier or more difficult to transition to natural hair?

It was only difficult because I didn’t have anyone I knew personally to turn to for hairstyling tips. Once I realized that I could get styling tips from naturals on YouTube, things became easier.

4.Now the big one- why did you choose to transition? Can you remember the date? How long has it been?

I began my transition because my daughter wanted to know why her hair wasn’t “flat” like other girls. I transitioned for 16 months. I began in August 2011, and I cut off my relaxed ends on Dec. 31, 2012.

5. Did you feel that making that decision was hard for you especially when most of the women around you had silky straight hair?

I made the decision to return to natural hair because of my daughter. As a result, I really was not concerned about how other women around me wore their hair. In addition, I never felt criticism from those around me regarding my decision to return to natural hair. I had to remember that I was once one of those women who had “silky straight hair”.

regalfro26. Cool, now let’s talk hair products, hair routines- did you have to change any of your hair products?

Yes. My transitioning hair was totally different from both my relaxed and natural hair. When my hair was relaxed, I only used shampoo, conditioner, and oil once a week. During my transition, I keep the same shampoo and conditioner but had to switch oils. I also had to apply oil more frequently and use styling products. The products I used were: Garnier shampoo and conditioner, almond oil, and flax seed gel.

7. What products have helped you maintain your natural hair?

Currently, I use the following products on my hair:

-Clarifying: Apple Cider Vinegar

-Conditioning: Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Conditioner & 3-Minute Undo Dryness Reversal Treatment

Moisture: Cantu Natural Hair Coconut Curling Cream

Oil: Cococare Castor Oil

Stylers: Eco Styler Gel with Argon Oil, Homemade Flaxseed Gel, and Garnier Curl Calm Down

8.Has there been a change in your hair routines? Like the number of times you wash your hair a week, how you protect your hair when you sleep? Protective styling? ( weaves, braids, ponytails)

My routine is simple. I clarify and co-wash my hair once every 15 -17 days. I deep condition once monthly and moisturize daily.  I protect my hair at night with a satin bonnet or scarf. I am not a big fan of protective styling because I enjoy wearing my hair out. However, during my transition, I wore mini twists for the last few months.

9. A lot of women I have spoken to say they want to go natural but find there are hardly any products for them. Can you recommend good hair products and if possible where to get them?

I rarely recommend products to people because I keep the products I use to a minimum. In addition, I do not switch products often. I would say that I companies have done an excellent job in developing products for natural hair. Product accessibility is probably better than it has ever been. If you are in an area that does not have retailers that carry natural hair products, then I recommend that you search the websites of large retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Walgreens. If you are unsure about what products to use, or would like to try various product, I would recommend a natural hair subscription box service such as Curlbox or Curl Collection. With your subscription you get products sent to you and you are able to test out the products. This can be helpful in saving time and money.

10. Would you advice any women to go natural? And why?

I believe that deciding to return your hair to its natural state is a personal decision that a woman should be allowed to make without pressure. In my opinion, it is a matter of respect. I wanted people to respect the fact that I wanted to transition back to natural. Therefore, I want to respect the decision of any woman who decides that having natural hair is not for her.

11. And finally what the best piece of advice you would give to a woman who has just decided to go natural?

Connect with other naturals as soon as you can and utilize social media outlets. Never be afraid to ask a natural via social media about products, styling tips, or just to vent. Normally, you will find someone who has tried the products, will tag you in a style photo, or experienced something similar. In other words, CONNECT, CONNECT, CONNECT!!!! You do not have to go on this journey alone.

12. If you want to add anything else please feel free to do so.

Regardless of how you choose to wear your hair, remember you are a naturally beautiful woman.

If you want to connect with me, you can check out my YouTube channel Regal Fro or follow me on Instagram @ regal_fro

But if you’re in the UK and want to check out any new products or try any Regal mentioned, PaksComestics is your best chance or online at britishcurlies.com. Of course there is always Amazon/EBay and the others

POINTS OF VIEW- CHRISTAINITY

use for points

Points of view

Hey guys I hope everyone is doing well at the moment, happy Easter in advance.

So I wanted to share something a bit personal to me and that is my Christianity.  So I have been a Christian all my life and like always there is be hard times. And I find myself going through that recently so I thought it would be encouraging to hear from close friends and family what Christianity meant to them and their views on it etc.  So I did a mini survey and the answers I got back were quite interesting.  These are the questions I asked

What does been Christian or Christianity mean to you? And before you were a Christian or since you have been Christian, have you ever doubted the existence of God or your whole beliefs?

It was interesting to hear what others had to say and I found it so encouraging.  So if you are going through a similar situation maybe you would find this encouraging.

  • Yeah. I have. Not “openly” per se. But when I studied religion and philosophy a-level I found it really hard to fit my beliefs in God to what was being taught.
But too much has happened to me. And if not for the fact that in my head I believed that there is a supreme being taking care of me, I wouldn’t be here today. No lie.
That in itself is evidence to me. I’m one of those ‘logical’ thinking people. Things are always mapped out in my head. And I try as much as possible to stick to it. That’s why when things don’t go to plan I basically go mad. i.e.: a-level results/Uni time. When I feel like things aren’t going to plan I struggle and obviously it’s coz I find it hard to give it all up to God. But 2013/2014 has taught me so much. Right now I’m at a stage where I’m beginning to understand that God matters more than anything in my life. Career, future, money, family… All of that don’t mean much. Coz this world has gone cold. So I now feel like Christ is the best decision for me. Hasn’t been easy coz I think about certain things and think so God u actually for real??! Like I said I’ve never said or spoke about this. It’s been very private thoughts. I don’t know if that’s even a good thing tbh. What does being Christian mean to me now? Well, now, it’s my life. Literally. I can’t think of any other way to actually be able to live. It’s all through the ‘most high’. Taken me ages to get there. Last summer we spent a lot of time with Ps Wiseborn and it’s through that or from there that I gained some confidence about all this and from there I actually feel loved by God. He loves me. – Amazing tbh. It’s taken me a long while to fall in love with myself. There are things I don’t like bout myself. He sees all this and loves me completely?? To me it’s mind blowing. And that’s what I hold on to.

  • Being a Christian means following Christ, having my relationship with the Trinity. Never doubted God’s existence. My only doubts were that He didn’t love me as much as other people because of the pain I felt. That’s gone now

  • To me it’s all about  finally being reconnected with God In a real and palpable way I owe God my existence and would one give account of the life he has given me I would otherwise be unable to come before God because for birth I’ve done things that would mean I can’t be in the presence of God without his holiness naturally destroying me But God in Christ  made a way for me to be reconnected with him by paying for my sin on the cross Before properly being baptised by the Holy spirit at some point I did doubt at some. Points God’s existence but it was always for selfish reasons by His grace having been baptised by the Holy spirit I can’t see anything that would change my mind about what I’ve seen I now have constant relationship with God which is evidenced every day and which strengthened my faith in a daily basis

  • Christianity means is I have a relationship I have with the creator of this earth and that’s a privilege, because I love him so much so will love making him happy and by doing that he protects me and blesses me all the same. There are times as Christians we been though so many and doubt God’s ability but He always cones through and proves us wrong and shows us how great He is
  • Before I became born again, I was just growing and part of Sunday school so I’ve always known there’s a God, who created heaven and earth and since then I don’t remember ever doubting my beliefs as a Christian. Christianity is a way of life , it is like being a disciple, who wants to be like Jesus and have a good relationship with God by following His statutes and living according to the Bible
  • My opinion is what Christianity means to me is to have a relationship with God. There were times that things hadn’t gone my way and I was frustrated but I ask God for strength to get me through my battles
  • Being a Christian to me is a Lifestyle. Living your life based on the teaching of Christ. But u can’t really be living by his teaching if u don’t believe in him or what his purpose was fir mankind No I have never doubted his existence

  • Christianity = being able to live the life Christ lived when he was on earth through grace and mercy

  • To a Christian is an individual who has accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour. By doing that as well they have formed a covenant with God that they now belong to Him. Through that they are granted salvation. Also being a Christian is not just by mouth, a true Christian follows and lives a right way of life according to the word of God and strives their best to obey God’s word in all aspects of their life. Before I became a Christian I didn’t doubt the existence of God however I wanted to experience His power and because I didn’t known how to I went a bit wayward lool but God found me and brought me to the light lol

  • Being a Christian or Christianity to me is actually a way of life where after having accepted the Lord as my personal saviour I strive to be like Jesus Christ in my daily walk with him and try to have a personal relationship with him. So I try my best with the help of the Holy Spirit so others might see Jesus in me. There has not been a day I doubted the existence of God or my beliefs because for me everything around me and things that happens around tells me He exists. Not withstanding there has been some challenging times my faith has been challenge like losing hope. but I thank God I get on my feet as soon as I can

There might be another part in this post because there are so many more people I asked and I am still waiting for a reply. If you have been in this situation before or you are currently in a similar one, do not lose hope, soon you will be back in His presence. If you would like to share your story with me, you can leave a comment on this post or drop me an email.

I hope you were encouraged. Have a good day.

FLY ON THE WALL

totally unrelated but funny picture for enlightenment as always!
totally unrelated but funny picture for enlightenment as always!

Nothingness the hollow six inches between my ears

She becomes the hypocrite she knows herself to be

It’s not enough

And in this instance

Knowledge did not bring power

Either did experience come with wisdom

Let me crash and burn

For my engine although worn out won’t stop until a crash

The last stop before the cliff edge

Is when I thought I stopped for water

I am her

Her locked in this glass box

So I think I am making progress

But I am locked into place

Sorrow sobs turn into screams that must be swallowed. Tears like rivers that run down my face.

“Buzz buzz”

Back straight. Eye open. Pupils dilate to let in that glimmer of lights in the room. You’re alerted to another being’s presence. – It’s just a fly.

“Oh God, I can’t do this’ if I have to fake another smile and hide bags enough that I could crawl into underneath my eyes I would not know what to do. But as I work my mac nc45 into my skin, I am doing the exact opposite of what I planned for a Friday night.

I wish it was as easy as breathing. Wrong for breathing in itself it’s a task that requires energy and involves a bunch of chemical reactions of which I could name but do not have the time. So no it can’t be easy as that.

False hope. Blue Skies grey clouds in a drought does not guarantee rain

And so my heart broke when I took my umbrella

That buzz of the fly that I keep hearing

It’s a cycle. Like my old bike I had when I was 9 years old. The worn rubber tires removed so that the metal frame was left. And every time I rode, I could see traces of where I had been but not where I was going. Not yet. But in that moment been the present and at the same time the future of the past but not been able to predict the next future, unless I keep riding. And the tracks that would ensue. And psychology will tell me hindsight bias means I knew it would happen all along.

But if the past is the only indication I have of my future, and if habits are so hard to break then what hope do I have left?

Let me end on this note; the cross is for my salvation.

Lamentations 3; 21-27

OPPOSITES

If birds of the same feather flock together then why do opposites attract?

If I seek to get then why did curiosity kill the cat?

If absence makes the heart grow fonder why am I out of your mind when I am out of sight?

And if the grass is greener on the other side, and home is where the heart is then why I am not happy with my home been on the opposite side?

Stillness

And as the arms wrap around her, her thoughts come alive

And he has no idea the very words he speaks illicts an opposite response in her mind.

‘for the rest of my life I want to be with you’

I cant be with him

I want to give you everything

There are some luxuries I cant afford

I want to make you happy

Like been happy

I will fight for you

I am so tired

We will be together forever

You will become a memory like everything

I love you

Another luxury too pricey for me

I want a future with you

And another

Two world will not co-exist. One will triumph.

How do opposites stay together?

Why did curiosity kill the cat?

Why did I leave your mind when I left your sight?

I think I love the idea of loving you without actually pausing for a second to think what love is? I think I love the idea of you fighting for me and yes as a woman I would expect that from a man but I also love the idea of fighting against you for me.

I am not ready like Alicia Keys.

But if thinking about you means anything

Then you mean the world to me

And if looking at you means something

Then boy, my eyes will not get its fill of you, my brain will not be satisfied with the images of you

Because they are not enough

Either will my hands get used to the habit of touching your body

Its been a while, wordmixing.
