Budapest Baths: Rudas Thermal Bath

On the penultimate day, we went to the final bathhouse, Rudas Thermal Bath in the Buda area. This place is actually not too far from Gellert Thermal Bath. We went here because we found a good offer: they have a brunch and wellness combo ticket. The deal allows you entry into the wellness area of the bath plus a 3-course meal.

The wellness area had indoor pools, a steam room and saunas. They also had an ice bath which Yas loved. I loved this bath the most, the wellness area felt more like a leisure centre but it was extremely clean. They don’t have a separate changing room here as well.

We got the tickets online and you redeem them at the bistro which is next door to the bathhouse. You have to book a table for brunch which we did but it wasn’t too busy after we finished with the spa portion so we ate a bit earlier. The bistro has an outdoor area which overlooks the Danube river.

I loved how clean and calm this place was and I thought the offer was really good. The menu was limited but still had enough choice for and we had no issues with the service or bill afterwards.

I would definitely recommend this bath and the offer

That’s all folks. The 3 bath houses we visited in Budapest. To summarise

Szenchynhi Bath- cheapest and biggest outdoor pool, indoor pools not as clean

Gellert Thermal Bath- posher vibes and better indoor pools, outdoor pool quite small

Rudas Thermal Bath- we didn’t go into the traditional bath area but the wellness area was well kept and very clean. Loved the indoor pools and steam room. Beautiful views and panoramic pool upstairs as well. Bonus- you can also purchase a combo ticket for wellness area and lunch.

I hope you found these posts helpful.

Ultimate Empties Challenge 2018

Happy New Year! 2018 wow! I am so looking forward to this year and I am ready to push myself to make my dreams happen! Remember 2018 will only be different if you change your input! I’m so ready

That aside let’s get into my first beauty challenge. I have to admit that I am a product junkie. I may just have a little more products than the average girl, ok so a lot more products but I am a beauty blogger so that’s my excuse! Sometimes I feel bad for wanting to try/buy new products because I simply do not have the space for it yet I wanna try it (nice problem to have right?) and chances are I have at least 3 similar products.

So in the latter part of 2017, I started to push myself to finish at least 12 products a month and I was pretty much successful with that so, me been Sarah Fynn, I decided to take things up a notch for 2018

Ultimate Empties Challenge 2018

For the year 2018, I want to finish 250 products by the end of it! Believe I have that many products smh. And I want these empties to be across my collection: skincare, makeup, haircare and body care and all sizes count: full size, travel and deluxe sample sizes

250 products works out to be about 21 products a month. I know I will get more or less each month but as long as I hit 250 by 31 Dec 2018 I would have reached my goal! I always share my empties on my Instagram so please follow me to see my progress! This empties challenge also means lots of reviews for you guys so I will basically be a haven for product reviews. I am also working on decluttering, the products I don’t use or doesn’t work for me, I either sell or giveaway to family & friends

I’m really excited about this challenge! And for 2018, who knows what will happen! Lots of projects and new challenges planned.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all my followers’ and readers of my blog! Because of this, little ol me has learnt a lot and worked with some amazing brands and I will keep producing excellent content for you guys. I will be pushing and challenging my ideas and thoughts on beauty and everything sharing it so that you can benefit and hopefully start your own journey! We all gon glow up in 2018 and for life!

Catch you guys soon and again HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU

Summer Beauty Wish List

Hey hey, I hope everyone is doing great! 2017 is definitely flying by, I mean it’s almost August?! *insert motivational quote to try and do more by the end of the year here* I’ve been bringing you a lot of reviews lately so I thought I would share my current (summer) beauty wish list and if you spot something you use please drop a mini review for me! Ok let’s get into into

Summer Beauty Wish List

These products aren’t necessarily for the summer, it’s suitable all year round but because I’m writing this in the summer I thought well, why not lol.

NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation £34

This foundation is the bomb.com and everything in between. I have been wanting to try this foundation for a while and when I was able to finally get the correct shade matched to my skintone (Benares) and test it when I was on holiday, I was sold! I have the Sheer Glow Foundation and those two are nothing alike!

Shade Ref- My shade is Benares. I’m also a Benares in the Sheer Glow Foundation. I’m NW50 in Mac Studio Fix.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk, £24

I love nude lipsticks. They are perfect for every single occasion and there’s a nude for every skin tone. CT has been on my brand list for a while and while she literally sells you her products in every vid she’ s in (lol) only two of her products have really stood out to me. This lipstick and the Dry Sheet Mask, £18. The Dry Sheet Mask is pretty cool because you can use it up to 3 times before binning it! (Some say you can use it more than that e.g. use it on your feet/hands). I super love that it also had bits you hook over your ears to prevent it from slipping and sliding now your face

Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Eau De Parfums, £49

Ok, so this perfume is bae! My brother hooked me up with a deluxe sample of it ( and it was the cutest miniature perfume bottle ever!) and from here I fell in love with it. top notes of blackcurrant & pear with a heart of jasmine, orange blossom & iris. Finally sealing everything with Tonka bean, vanilla, patchouli & praline. It’s simply amazing!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Fresh Water Foundation, £32.50

Ok so I really wanted to try and love the Double Wear foundation but I just couldn’t. too matte and too full coverage for me. So naturally, this one looks like something I can play around with. The finish of this is a satin/dewy finish with medium to buildable coverage. I don’t know my shade yet so I would have to go in store to get matched. It looks like a good shade range hopefully the undertones are good too.

Ole Henriksen Trust Serum £47

So Vitamin C has been doing my skin some good! (Check out my review here for the Body Vit C Daily Moisturiser) it’s only fair I give the Truth Serum a try. It’s been raved about by everyone and I know the brand has a good reputation.

a short & sweet list and it has products I have been wanting to try! if you use any of these babies please drop me a line to tell me how its going for you!

Hope you have a wonderful summer

Garnier Green Tea Leaves Purifying Botanical Gel Wash Review

So I posted about the New Garnier Skin Active Collection last month, check out that post here. What’s interesting about the new Garnier range is that, 96% of their ingredient are from a natural source. In today’s post, I will be reviewing one of the new products in the Green Tea Leaves Collection part of the new range

Green Tea Leaves Collection

The Green Tea collection is for Oily &Combinationn skin types. Like other products in the collection, it’s free from parabens, artificial colorants and silicones. I have been using the Purifying Botanical Gel Wash for a few weeks now and I can now bring my thoughts on it.

The Purifying Botanical Gel Wash is enriched with Green Tea Extract known for its purifying properties. Garnier claims the gel will remove excess sebum, impurities and pollution for clean and purified looking skin. Use once a day

Experience

The Purifying Botanical Gel Wash replaced my Dermalogica Special Gel Wash in my skincare routine. I use the gel wash in combination with SPS face brush.

The gel wash smells fresh & pleasant and a small amount suds up quickly. The gel is effective at cleansing and I feel my skin is clean. I feel as though my skin is a little drier and feels tight after use with no moisturiser on in my normal areas. I have normal to combination skin but I tend to lend towards to the normal side of the scale. My T zone is oily but not excessively oily. I feel like the gel does a good job balancing my oily areas and after use those areas feel normal but my normal areas feel slightly drier.

Verdict– The Purifying Botanical Gel Wash is suitable for more oiler skin types than combination skin types in my opinion. For combination skin which is more normal than oily, you may find this wash slightly drying like I did. For oily skin types, the gel wash will be a perfect budget friendly match for you.

I do like the gel wash and I will be reaching for it more in the summer as my tzone gets slightly more oiler in the warmer months. The wash minimizes my pores and overall mattifies my skin.

I also like how Garnier tells you where and what each ingredient is/from.

I am still testing the other products in this range so make sure you come back from more.

Garnier Skin Active Green Tea Leaves Purifying Botanical Gel Wash is £3.49 at Boots

I was sent the product for reviewing

Blind Blogger Challenge with B. Skincare & Superdrug

blind blogger challenge with b skincare & superdrug

I finally did my Blind Blogger Challenge with B. Skincare & Superdrug testing out the new B. Effective Stubborn Makeup Remover! I was sent this challenge last month (forgive the lateness) but I am finally ready to bring you the results!

Challenge Accepted

The challenge was simple, I was given two makeup removers A and B and I was to test them out against the Gosh Waterproof Eyeshadow that came in the box. We all know waterproof makeup takes a minute to take off right? To really test out the makeup removers, I used the MUA Moisturising Primer and set that with my Milani Powder. I also swatched the LA Girl Flat Pigment Gloss (those take a min to take off as well) in addition to the eyeshadow. Finally, I set everything with the MUA Mattifying Mist and allowed to dry then I was ready for the challenge

Results

Makeup Remover A took about 3-4 swipes to get everything off without leaving any residue. My skin on that side feels nice and soft too.

Makeup Remover B lol took how many swipes for the lipstick alone and that waterproof eyeshadow wasn’t going nowhere! Even after all that there was still some residue left with Makeup Remover B and the skin feels a tad bit dry.

blind blogger challenge with b skincare & superdrug

Verdict

You guessed it! Makeup Remover A is the new B. Effective Stubborn Makeup Remover! This new remover tackles long wearing, hard to remove makeup like glitter, waterproof makeup and long-lasting formulas e.g. matte liquid lipsticks that are difficult to remove.

blind blogger challenge with b skincare and superdrug

The B. Effective Stubborn Makeup Remover feels nice on the skin and is definitely effective against waterproof makeup! Think Halloween makeup (I know we are ages away lol, ultra-matte liquid lipsticks will now be a breeze to take off!)Effective is now in Superdrug and priced £7.99

afro hair and beauty live 2016

It’s been 3 years I went to Afro & Hair Beauty Live! Check out my last event cover here, so this year I definitely had to go! Firstly a huge thank you to ORS for the VIP Bloggers Lounge and all the goodies (I spy a summer giveaway coming soon!). The canapes provided by First Class Chefs Ltd (check them out on Instagram) were very tasty, drinks and cakes were so good too!

afro hair and beauty live 2016

The show kicked off really well. I went on both days, Sunday and Monday to represent Brown Beauty Talk. I met a lot of Black Owned Businesses, discovered new brands and got complimented on my hair so much (details to follow soon!).

The show didn’t disappoint. It was packed with activities all around! Many seminars including Design Essentials, Cantu and Mane Choice were taking place as well as a discussion on the main stage, giveaways and a fashion show (some of the designers that took place in the show were also vendors on the day and available to purchase). A lot of vendors on hand: Nunaat, Pink Luster’s (hands up if you remember pink lotion!), Mon Shea, Cache Cosmetics, Taliah Waajid and many others. For children, Cerelac was on hand with a little play area and the Cerelac bear who I missed on Sunday to take a picture with but found him on Monday! Lol. They were also giving samples away

afro hair and beauty live 2016

Make it a point to go next year! It’s a great way to spend the bank holiday weekend! Afro Hair & Beauty don’t do goody bags but there were so many vendors giving samples away and many tempting offers you will definitely leave with your hands full! ORS were giving 3 full sizes products for FREE no purchase necessary!

Head over now to my Facebook for all the pictures over the two days! Too many to post on here! Follow the link below to my Facebook page for the pictures

Curlvolution 2016 Event Cover

curlvolution 2016

I told you this bank holiday weekend was packed! On Saturday, I went to Curlvolution, one of UK’s favourite natural hair event! Check out my cover for last year’s event here

For the 5th birthday celebration, the lovely Maria- Antoinette was the special guest. Her workshop ‘Out & Fly in 20 minutes’ gave ladies some tips and tricks to help with hair and makeup and be out in 20 minutes! I liked the quick demo she also had as she explained each step and lots of product recommendations. There were other workshops on hand too, Mommy & me, Financial freedom with Junior Ogunyemi (very insightful workshop and debunked a lot of myths on money) and Importance of Nutrition and Wellbeing with Trichologist Stephanie Sey ( the feedback I got from people who went to this workshop was very good)

As usual your favorite vendors were on hand: My Luxe Beauty, Shea Butter Cottage, Crème of Nature, Afrocenchix and of course this year’s sponsor Shea Moisture!

The panel discussion, the part everyone looks forward to didn’t let me down! Topics were cultural appropriation vs culture appreciation which got a bit heated I should add and social media gift or curse (let me know what you guys think). This year’s panel included Brown Beauty Talk Editor Ronke, Breeny Lee UK Beauty Vlogger, Junior Ogunyemi, Antonia Burrell and of course Maria-Antoinette. Action Jackson returned to host the event.

Visitors received a goody bag including a full sized product from brands like Shea Moisture, Palmers or Shea Butter Cottage!  I had a great time and it was lovely to reconnect with some of the volunteers from last year! Glam Africa and Black Beauty Magazines were also included in some of the goody bags!

Of course I took a lot of pictures too many to put on here! Please follow the link below to my Facebook page for all of the pictures. Guys also make sure you check Maria’s YouTube channel!

Looking forward to Curlvolution next year!

The Mane Choice Take Over

20160527_191555

Hands up if you have heard of Mane Choice? Mane Choice is one of the bestselling hair vitamins in the US and has finally landed in London! I had been stalking Mane Choice for a while and watched countless of ladies on YouTube on their journey to healthier hair with Mane Choice vitamins and their results were amazing. I finally took the plunge and got myself a 6 month supply during their Black Friday sale last year. (A review will be up soon, I’m just pass the 3 month mark!). But this post isn’t about that..

The takeover party on Friday was for us to meet the Mane Choice team, have a Q&A session and network, network, network! Between the amazing canapes that were on hand (seriously I could not stop eating them lol) I met some really lovely bloggers and reunited with the Black Beauty and Mag crew!

The Q & A session with Courtney Adeleye, owner of Mane Choice was very insightful. She spoke about how she started, gave great business advice and dropped a few hints for stuff in the pipeline! One thing she said that stuck with me was ‘it’s not about balance, it’s about priority’ you can tell how passionate is she about her craft from hearing her talk and which was great to see.

Mane Choice has now expanded to include a full hair care range including deep conditioners, oils, gels and cleansers! They also have styling tools like their professional shears and hair straighteners! I got my vitamins shipped from the US which didn’t take long to be honest but the full range is now been stocked by Beauty by Zara

It was great meeting Courtney and her lovely team and I wish them all the continued success both here and the US! Really excited to work with them again in the near future! For more information on the brand/products, visit the Mane Choice website

P.S- Courtney’s hair is goals lool

‘It’s not about balance, it’s about priority’

See you soon,

Sarah

ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor Review

keratin

Last week, I spoke about the ApHogee Protein Treatment and its benefits for all hair types.  This is a hard-core protein treatment that is only recommended for severely damaged hair and every 6-8 weeks. A ‘softer’ treatment for weekly use will be their Keratin Reconstructor which is a blend of keratin amino acids, botanical oils and vitamins that work perfectly on dry, brittle hair.

Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor

As with all ApHogee products, it’s been pH optimized and contains their exclusive propHytamine complex which is a combination of proteins for added strength, emollients for shine and humectants for softness. The Keratin treatment is recommended for weekly use and eliminates dry, itchy scalp, repairs damaged hair and restores softness. It also claims to repair heat and chemical damage and help restore hair after swimming and use of hard water. Bleached, permed and relaxed hair can also enjoy its benefits.

Experience

ApHogee hit the nail on the head with this treatment! It has a good amount of slip for detangling. It also has a pleasant smell almost like coconuts. What I really like about this is how soft it makes my hair. After using this, my hair feels very soft and healthy with reduced breakage/shedding. They recommend you leave the treatment on for 2 to 5 minutes- severe cases. I also like the fact that this is a one-step treatment compared to the Protein 2 step treatment. The big size is a bonus you get 473ml which will last you a while. It works perfectly well on natural hair too in my experience, I know a lot of people were wondering if it’s for relaxed hair only.

Overall verdict- 5/5

For more information on ApHogee products please visit their website

Keratin Treatment is £ 7.19 at Pauls Hair World

A full review on the Deep Moisture Shampoo will be up soon!

How do you deal with breakage and shedding?
