Micellar Water 101

Hey my loves! I hope you are all good. Welcome to my blog, I hope you enjoy this post and if you do please leave a comment, rate or like and subscribe its free!

Now that all that is out of the way, let’s talk micellar water: what they are and if they are worth your money

What is micellar water and why haven’t I heard of it?!

Lol, I’m not sure why you haven’t heard of it, but micellar water is made up of ‘micelles’ (we are about to get a tinny bit sciencey) which are miniature balls of cleansing molecules that float in water.  These balls are attracted to dirt, oil, and makeup and once applied they draw out impurities without any harsh chemicals. They also dissolve makeup which means it is not dragged everywhere on your face!

It’s an easy, quick and effective way of cleansing your skin and removing your makeup. And you don’t need to rinse afterwards (yes you read that right- a girl’s dream!).

Quick, Easy and Effectivebioderma

Of course I won’t be Sarah Fynn if I wasn’t sceptical about this! Lol, water that can take off my make up in an easy step and no rinse afterwards? Yh right! I swear by my baby wipes which get the job done: it takes a while, but done nevertheless. I heard about Bioderma (Which I still need to try btw) but I didn’t want to start out with that (it’s quite pricey, £12.98 for 500ml, purchase on Amazon). But I saw Superdrug’s version of it (£2.99) and decided to go for it.

I loved it! It was very effective in taking off all my make up! Including mascara without leaving me with panda eyes (don’t we hate that!). I used about 4 small cotton pads for my whole face. The bottle lasted me two weeks because I was over using it lol- hey I liked the smell and how my face felt afterwards.

From there, I was hooked. I heard of Simple (£4.49) and Garnier’s version and decided to try them too. I like the Garnier version better than the Simple micellar water and what’s great is that it comes in two sizes: 125ml (£1.99) and 400ml (£4.99). Simple’s one still works just as well but I just don’t like it as much.  My favourite is still Superdrug’s version which had added vitamin E. You can purchase these on Superdrug > http://www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face/c/skin-face?q=%3Aname-asc%3Acategory%3Apt_skin_micellar_water&text=&minSel=0.0&maxSel=70.0&minSlider=0.0&maxSlider=70.0&resultsForPage=20&categorypt_skin_micellar_water=on#

My current micellar waters. All can be purchased from Superdrug.com
My current micellar waters. All can be purchased from Superdrug.com

I am still on a quest of trying out more of micellar water. I know Nivea (£4.09, Superdrug) has one and Sukin (£8.12, echemist> http://www.echemist.co.uk/buy-sukin ) has one too. Sukin is Australia’s top natural skincare brand which is now available in the UK! For more info on their products and where to get some of their products please read this post>> http://wp.me/p1uQOd-Eo  I was invited to their press breakfast late last month.  I received some products at the event, which I haven’t used yet, but a review will be up as soon as I do.

sukinnnivea

In conclusion, Micellar water is a great and effective way of removing your makeup. It’s literally the lazy girls dream lol. Still not convinced? Be like me and try with cheaper versions first, before investing in a more pricer one. You are welcome to try any of the above and if you do, please let me know your thoughts!

If you are a master of micellar water lol, let me know which ones are your favourite and I will be sure to check them out

I hope you enjoyed this post! Bye now and I will speak with you soon

Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask

Hey beaus

So carrying on from my current skincare favs, this post will about the Montagne runny honey mask I told y’all I was eager to try. I finally did and I’m going to tell you all about it! Warning: graphic pictures lol. I tried the manuka honey and vanilla flavour? Scent? Version? I don’t know lol but that’s the one I used. And it worked! I was a bit sceptical on how peel off masks work and if they actually form a film you can peel off. But it worked lol. This smells so good too. I was a expecting a white thick cream consistency but boy was I wrong. It actually looked and smelt like honey! (Duuh Sarah lol) try to not eat it haha

lool, i look like an alien. sleep derivation smh. see how i store my earring using cardboard and a hanger? DIY projects coming soon!
20150719_123514
can you see the peelation taking place!!!! I’m a believer!! LOL

So it worked. And I got to peel off my face lol. I don’t actually know if I benefited from it though as in softness, glow etc but I guess a second application will do the trick.

That’s all folks lol. Now I am a firm believer in peel off masks at least this one from this brand. If you are a sceptic like me and you really want to give peel off masks a go, try this one it won’t let you down. You can get them from Superdrug, Boots, Primark and some supermarkets I think

Until next time

SLEEK LIPSTICK SWATCHES

20150301_192308

Hey guys hope everyone is doing well! HAPPY NEW MONTH!

I wanted to take a break from constant uni work (countdown 2 more months to finish!) and hair posts (not everydayhairpostsometimesmakeup LOL) and do something different (looks around my room for inspiration) so I decided to do a sleek lipstick collection and swatches. I did a post previous (link here to view it>>http://wp.me/p1uQOd-nV ) and it was my sleek make up collection not a big one and it’s a start. This is a kind of updated version but with lipsticks only.

I had fun doing this post but my lips are killing me! (Softly) I am also using descriptions from the sleek makeup site because honestly I can’t describe the shades (LOL) to save my life!. I didn’t use any lipliners so you can see the true colour.

If you’re from instagram hey guurl! (Make sure you followed me and like my little flipgram as a little preview to this post. If you’re just reading this, please check out my instagram page- @sarahfynn. I will keep you updated with my blog, hair/beauty products and other shenanigans

Let’s get started.

First here is what SleekMakeup have to say about their lipsticks:

‘Get high impact lips with True Colour Lipstick in a gorgeous matte and sheen finishes in a variety of shades that are highly pigmented, and conditioning to keep lips soft and supple. Enriched with vitamin E helping to hydrate and protect the lips. Comfortable to wear and glides on with ease this is the must have to awaken your makeup look.’

What I LOVE about Sleek Makeup is the price- everything from foundations to lipsticks are so affordable and very good quality. The matte black packaging makes it look really expensive. Their lipsticks are highly pigmented with a huge variety of shades to suit every skin tone. The price? £4.99

Tip- sign up to their newsletter. From time to time they offer discounts e.g. 20% off or 2 for 1 deals and that’s how I got all my stuff from them! (I am yet to try their eye shadow pallets, I have heard great reviews about them but since I’m not a great fan of eye shadows… hmmm)

Beware there is a lot of me feeling myself pictures (lol), bangs over one eye and general neekiness lol. And this is going to be a long post

FIRST LOOK- RHOVIRGIN EURASIAN TIGHT CURL HAIR

Hey family! I hope everyone is well and doing good. Just briefly, I wanted to share my new hair extensions from RhoVirgin Hair Company. Check out my previous posts about them by clicking on these links. http://wp.me/p1uQOd-ok , http://wp.me/p1uQOd-hz

So this time around I wanted a different look, I normally get body wave extensions or loose waves but this time I decided to let my inner diva out( like it hasn’t been out all this while lol!) and I was on the hunt for something new. My inspiration came from Tokyostylez instagram page ( and ladies if you are a hair fanatic you NEED to follow this guy, his wigs are LAID. Period) I was browsing as I do and came across this beauty

LOVE
LOVE

And I needed that texture in my life. I started to look around and again on instagram and on the RHOVIRGIN page she had posted this and I was sold!

not quite the same but similar
not quite the same but similar

I got 3 bundles and a matching closure- 24. 20. 18 plus 14 (4×4) closure of the EURASIAN TIGHT CURL HAIR ( also a new texture I havenot had yet) also I have never used 3 bundles for my hair before so again, something new. I think the specs of her hair in the picture are 22.20.18 and a 16 closure. Either way I am in love with this hair and I havenot even installed it yet.

First impressions?

Well she has stepped her game up since the last time I purchased hair from her. Your package will now come with business cards and an instruction sheet on how to care for your tresses including recommended products.

The hair has a pleasant smell. Almost like new clothes you order online if that makes any sense. I know and have heard of people who got hair from other vendors and were not pleased with the smell. Quick tip- you can either co-wash and deep condition if you don’t like the smell or for really strong smells, I have heard some girls use (wait for it) fabric conditioner to wash it out! ( cant comment on its validity though). A nice smell is always welcomed and a good sign.

Bundles were true to length and were full from weft to tip. The hair naturally has some very beautiful brown/blonde highlights so my dark and lovely jet black box dye gon have to wait! LOL. The thickness of the bundles was also expected as in you get less hair on longer lengths and more hair on the shorter lengths. The knots on the closure were bleached and it came with baby hair. The ends of the hair were in ok condition, a bit frizzy but nothing a good deep conditioning session cant fix.

So as always I co-washed and deep conditioned the hair and allowed to air dry over night.  This is a side-side picture of hair straight of the packet and freshly co-washed hair. Curls be popping girl! The ends are back to life!

top pic- freshly co-washed bottom- fresh out of packet
top pic- freshly co-washed
bottom- fresh out of packet

For co-washing, I used my co-wash mix I mixed up myself ( 900ml conditioner and I recommend conditioners for dry/frizzy hair in  this case I was using tresemme salon silk conditioner for frizz prone hair or something of the sort, 50ml herbal essence shampoo with Moroccan argan oil and 50ml argan oil- for extra moisturising properties) I use this mix on my hair as well and my curls be popping like crazy lol! Obviously I do not use a 1000ml of product on my hair at one time, its just a mix I have in my bottle I use.

Afterward I just deep conditioned with macadamia nut extract deep conditioner( smell? Amazeballs!), put in a bag and let it sit in hot water for about 10 mins! Cold water to rinse the product out and air dry

I also sealed my wefts with fray stop glue (this stuff is a nightmare, I mean its hi-tack so its probably very good but it takes forever to dry! So it took about 4 days to seal all my wefts- front and back)

20141016_102555

So now that my hair is ready, I just need to find time to install it. As always I will be doing 1 , 3 and 5 months updates then from there on as I feel like it. Really looking forward to what I can do with this hair.

Ps hairfinity challenge going strong. Cant wait for month 1 update on the 2nd of November. Stay tuned!

Peace out. Xx

MAC LIPSTICK COLLECTION AND SWATCHES. WOC

READY FOR ACTION!
READY FOR ACTION!

Hey guys, happy new month! (Can you believe 2015 is just 4 months away?!) Anyway hope everyone is doing well and preparing for back to school. I hope all your summer plans were successful and was a nice welcomed break!

So today’s post is something a bit different. It’s a collection with lip swatches of my mac lipsticks! I hope it helps someone trying to find suitable shades for their skin. ( I also made a video you guys for YouTube, bear with me whilst I laugh at myself and edit it hopefully I can edit this post later to include it)

But I decided to do this because there isn’t many lip swatches on YouTube for WOC especially. And sometimes the swatches on the hand do not do the colour justice. Also I found that most people combine the lipsticks with lip liners/other lipsticks whereby interrupting the true colour of the lipsticks, so with my swatches no other colours used! Just lipstick and lips LOL. Since I am terrible at describing these colours, I got the ‘official’ description from the mac website for you! Also I have linked a few videos of some lovely ladies on YouTube whose lip swatches helped me pick some of my colours. Check them out they are very useful.

If you are interested in the acrylic lipstick holder ( I’m sure by  now everyone has heard of them) I got mine from eBay for about 2 pounds I think but I just found really good ones and bigger too on amazon.   click on the picture. it will take you straight there. They are perfect for people who like to display their makeup.

Ok guys this post may be a long one. Sit back and relax. And whilst you are here check out my eBay store. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/slimtings1?_trksid=p2047675.l2559)

SLEEK MAKEUP: COLLECTION, SWATCHES AND THOUGHTS

20140710_141530
i really do not have any idea why my tablecloth is christmas themed! but i love it

Hey guys, I hope everyone is doing well. (Wow second post today, I’m on fire!). Anyway I have been recently contact by some ladies to do a makeup collection and as I love sleek products right now I decided to do a sleek make up collection. I don’t have a lot of their products, I recently bought some and it’s on its way in the post but that is another story I am going to tell you about now.

So if you want to try sleek products and unless it’s your only choice I do not recommend purchasing online ( from their website that is) It is a UK based company so you can walk into your local boots or Superdrug or the beauty supply stores and get yourself what you want. Why do I say this?

Well-

  1. When I was in Spain and I couldn’t get my hands on their darker shades I ordered some products online. It took a while to get to me and I thought maybe it was because of my location (however even with all the other stuff I bought online from the UK, everything took week tops). so I emailed them and they replied in their own time later saying yh its going to take a while
  2. They came out with their new foundation range- the bare all foundations which I really wanted to try. But it wasn’t available in Spain for swatches. I emailed them to recommend what shade they would suggest telling them that I was a shade deep in their BB cream. That email is yet to be replied. I am now back in the UK and have gone to superdrug and swatched them. Thank you.
  3. Recently bought a few more things online (which I wanted to include in this post) and paid for 3 days tracking. I had problems with tracking so once again I emailed them. And they said they’re courier was having problems etc. so I am yet to receive my items.

I had wanted to include those items in this post especially the powder because I havenot seen that around but I will just update the post once they are here. So I got the powder and a replacement bb cream and a blush by 3 palette in pink sprint. (If you search on YouTube you will find some swatches)

Any way moving on my collection of sleek products is not the biggest but I have got some essentials. So I have the sleek bbcream in dark, 2 blush palettes: one in sugar and the other in lace. One face contour kit in dark. And 3 lipsticks: mystic, exxagerate and amped.

Collection/swatches/thoughts

  1. Bb cream (dark) – I LOVE this bb cream. I came across this when I was on the search for a bb cream that actually fits my skin tone; most of the drugstore brands fit the pale to lighter skin tones. So when I found this I was so happy. It is full coverage and I didn’t expect that from a bb cream but it’s ok. It works like a charm. It’s very breathable and buildable. And I don’t get breakouts from it. (Which is a plus) and for £8.99 you get 50ml of product. Good value for money.

20140710_141730 20140710_141929

2. Face contour kit (dark) – I love the highlighter in this palette. It is so pretty. I love that they did a combo palette with the dark powder and the lighter powder for highlighting. the only problem I have with this is the power is too dusty (lol I don’t even know if this is a valid problem) for £6.99 you get 14g of product and a good sized mirror

look at that highlighter!
look at that highlighter!

3.Blush by 3 palette in LACE. The shades are crochet, guipure and Chantilly. I love this palette. Combo shades of both matt and shimmer powders. And a good sized mirror. My fav in this palette is Chantilly and I usually wear this wear a nude or neutral pink lip.

from left to right: chantilly, guipure and crochet
from left to right: chantilly, guipure and crochet

4. Blush by 3 palette in SUGAR. the shades are turbinado, muscovado and demerara. this is my fav pallete. fav shade has to be demerara. It looks so good with a fuschia pink lip or matte nude lip. (If you are thinking of getting any of these palettes which I think you already have anyway, try this pallete the shades are gorgeous especially against darker skin tones.

from left to right: demerara, muscovado and turbinado
from left to right: demerara, muscovado and turbinado (lol and me in the mirror)

All the palettes have a total of 20g of product each that’s about 6.6g per blush. Pallete are either £9.99 or £12.99 each. Not sure

5. Lipsticks- I love their lipsticks and I am looking to get more shades. It’s very affordable (1/3 of a mac lipstick) and they have a variety of shades. The only shade I do not like this exxagerate. I love the purple colour (guys this is a dupe for mac heroine) however it has shimmer in it and I HATE SHIMMER on my lips. So I will be selling that soon on eBay. ( whilst you are here perform a seller search on eBay for slimtings1 and check out my items, very good quality used clothing or makeup and accessories) I have hardly worn it. Lipsticks are £4.99 each and you get 3.5g of product.

Can you guess which one is which?
Can you guess which one is which?

I love the sleek packaging. The matt black finish makes and gives the products a more expensive feel. The palettes are fairly easy to open and close. I think my favourite product from sleek is their bb cream. I am to try more of their products but we will see as time goes on. They came out with the new foundations, CC creams, a limited edition eyeshadow palette and 6 lip gloss shades. If you have any of these products, let me know how they are working for you.

That’s all folks; I hope you have a wonderful day, until next time… bye xx

PS- did you guess it?

Disclaimer: I am not fat – shaming and slim praising.  This is not my intention.  This topic is very close to my heart and I am simply attempting to share my thoughts and views on the matter.

I think the problem is not what society defines as beautiful (I am in no way underestimating its influence) but rather the problem lies within ourselves and what we think beautiful is when we catch a reflection of ourselves in the mirror.

What started it all, although I have been thinking about doing this for a while now.

It is true that obesity is a worldwide problem that needs a permanent solution. According to the WHO website, 2.8 million people die annually from obesity or been overweight. Childhood obesity is steadily rising and it scares me- but that is another post all together.

With that been said, there are still millions of people- both MEN AND WOMEN who have serious issues with weight gain. How do I know? Because I am one of them.  Having family members tell you to eat more or random strangers walking up to you and telling you are skinny. Telling a slim person to eat a burger because they look hungry is the equivalence of telling an obese/overweight person to eat a salad because they don’t look hungry. It’s RUDE. Period.

RUDE, OFFENSIVE, DISRESPECTFUL AND INCONSIDERATE.

In the world we live in today, been too big is a problem.  Been too small is a problem too. And whilst I both acknowledge and accept the fact that there are serious health consequences of been at the extreme ends of the weight scale, it is also worth acknowledging that some people do truly have difficulties in gaining weight and not because of some eating disorder or mental disorder of anything else you could come up with but simply due to nature- that’s how their body functions and maybe down to genetics.

If there is possibly a gene that pre disposes a person to obesity, then couldn’t there be one in the opposite effect? One that pre disposes a person to been naturally slim or slimmer than usual?

I will tell you why this topic is so important to me: I am a 21 year old woman weighing about 49.5 to 50kgs and standing at 5.5/5.6 feet. On a BMI (Body mass index) scale I am classed as underweight.

Now if you know me or within months of getting to know me, you will hear about my many attempts of epic fail weight gain stories or my numerous researches about weight gain. And I have good researching skills. And I have tried them all- appetite stimulants, heavy weight lifting, mass gainers etc. and all equals no weight gain.

And in my culture and even society nowadays, been bigger is better (and I am not talking about been obese/overweight). The bigger your buttocks, sway of your hips and heave of your chest when you walk = desirability.  And it’s easy to feel left out.

BUT STILL

One day I caught a reflection of myself in the mirror and stared hard at myself and realised how far I had come in life, my achievements and my failures were not due to my weight. And I prayed for courage to accept it. And yes I have the days where I am obsessed with weight gain. Of course, I am human.

Disclaimer 2: once again I am not praising been slim. I am simply stating there could be another way where people stay slim other than the negative stereotypes. Strive for good health. And if you have serious concerns about your health/weight please seek medical advice. I purposely used the word skinny less and slim more because to me it denotes a sick/ill person and it is simply not the point I wish to put across.

And once we pray and accept the things we CANNOT change and LEARN to deal with them in a SAFE AND PROPER manner, then life well life would be so much better.

Xx

Have a good day
